Hey nattybongo

Good to have you here, I got a 5pack of feminized kalashikova from attitude seeds for like £15 which is a bargain. They are supposed to be pretty good for scrog type grows so thought id give them a try.

To subscribe go to the first post at the top of any page, there is a "thread tools" option on the right hand side at the top of the page and the "subscribe to thread" button is there fella

Yeah I did watch thatvid cos you cant find many people with vids that have grown the kalashnikova but not tried looking at stuff like white russain from serious seeds as they are the same genetics (ak47 x white widow)

Day 7

Hello, checked the ladies this morning and both are doing well, a little bit of height on both and the kalashnikova is a little wider also.

The ph had drifted back to 6.3 and 6.4 on both ladies over night so I topped up the buckets with about a litre n half of ph balanced water, waited 20 mins and then rebalanced the ph of both buckets to 5.8.

I've been spraying the rockwool of both ladies with ph balanced water twice a day, just to keep them moist while the cfl is so close, I'll stop this today and leave them to encourage the taproots to go into the buckets.

I'll give them both 3-4 more days under the cfl and then am going to throw the 400w Metal halide in there.

Temp 23.3
Humidity 47%
ph 5.8 (adusted back from 6.3 & 6.4)

Morning folks!

Just another quick update for you lot.

Day 7

Not much in terms of growth but both ladies are defo bigger, the auto is starting to grow a little too. Will be changing my res out in 2days and switching my cfl out to a 400w metal Halide as well as starting both ladies on 0.5ml per litre of sensi grow (AN state 4ml per)..

The Ph was at 6.6 on both ladies this morning so have adjusted back to 5.8 and will recheck when I get home.

Temp 22.8
Humidity 67%
Ph 5.8 (adjusted back from 6.6)

Day 8

Hello all

Just another journal update for you lot.

I decided to flip the light over to my 400w metal halide this morning and the ladies both seem to love it. I've started with it quite high above them to give both chance to adjust to the intensity and will be gradually lowering it a little each day (unless there is alot of stretch and then it gets dropped on top of them).

As ever, the room is running a little high with the metal halide in there at 27.9 but all my ladies have had this and they dont seem to mind. I have some ice packs ready for the intake fan just in case!

I'll be changing the res over in the next 2 days and starting them both out on sensi grow @ 0.5ml per litre and will have to keep an eye out for any signs of burn/stress etc. I actually noticed some very light white colouring on the kalashnikova (not light stress as that was there yesterday prior to the mh) so ill keep my eye on that just in case but think its nothing at the mo.

The humidity is a little low so I will look into raising that a little today also.

ok so pics..

Temp 27.8
Humidity 38%
PH 5.8 (adjusted back from 6.6)

Hey mate. Looking good. Can't wait to see them bush out since there under a MH now.
How would you increase your humidity in the tent?

Hey Nattybongo

Yeah they should start to bush a little now that they're getting the mh goodness. I'm going to try adding a wet tea towel in the bottom of the tent, I've heard a few people saying that helps but am still looking into the best way to do until I switch to flower as the hps seems perfect for the size of the tent in terms of heat/ humidity.

I'll keep you posted on how I manage to do it and will even throw a few pics up on the subject

Day 9

Hello

Right how we all doing?

Ok so the ladies have been under the mh for a day now and seem to be growing nicely, there has been a little stretch from starting the light so far away but its been dropped to about 15" above them now - they are both still under 2"-2.5" so its not been too bad.

The temps seem pretty steady around 28 degrees without the ice packs so ill just keep an eye on the temps for now. I should hopefully have a cool tube reflector for when we go into flower as its one of the few things i think i really need but dont have.

Both ladies are a little wider and taller and nice and green, ph is drifting from 5.8 to 6.6 over night and is getting re adjusted daily. As I said earlier there is a little white colouring on the leaf tips on the kalashnikova, its not nute burn or light bleaching as it has been there since they popped and before the mh went in so ill just keep my beady eye on this also.

I managed to grab a few plastic recycling totes that im sterilising at the mo before I use them to raise the buckets properly allowing me to do res change / flush etc when we are in the screen.

Did you do anything to raise the humidity...?
Hey Jay.

I've not as yet as I've cracked a few windows in the room the tent is in to help with the temps. The temp is now 26.3 and the humidity went up to 57% (its cold, windy and raining) so I'm happy with that for now I guess.

To be honest I'm still in my first year of this and am not even sure what humidity to go for, I did research it but it got pushed out of my head at some point by other issues lol. Any advice on this at all jay??

Scratch that fella 50-70% humidity during veg so its about right where it is for the mo.

If it drops much below 50 then ill add a wet tea towel and a few trays of water in the tent to see if it helps.

Hello!

OK time for another update.

Well its day 10 from seed and both ladies are coming on strong. I changed the res out today, scrubbed out both buckets and refilled with 1ml per litre of AN Sensi grow nutes, rebalanced back to ph 5.9 and raised both the buckets off the ground as I'm going to install the screen at some point today / tomorrow to see how much room I have left to work with in the tent.

I ended up using plastic recyling totes to give me enough clearance to swap the buckets out and work under the screen easily. The temps seem to have been sorted by simply opening a few windows and now my temps are steady around 26-27 with a humidity of 50%, got to love the british cold winters when it comes to your plants huh? (may add a few trays of water to see how much it goes up)

The supersonic crystal storm has a very very small amount of leaf margain curl from the transition the the mh bulb but as the temps are steady and humidity is up ill just keep my eye on it for now and hopefully the water trays will keep this at bay for me.

Over-all both ladies are coming on fine, both are devloping the next set of nodes / tier and seem to be starting to widen out and seem nice and healthy, I'll be keeping my eye out for nute burn as the AN stuff can be a bit strong for young plants so I have some water de-chlorinating to have on standby for flush just in case.

Right, time for some pics

Day 10

Temp 26.4
Humidity 50%
Ph 5.9

Quick update.

Just installed my screen 8" above the kalashnikova, so about 6.5" above the supersonic crystal storm. went pretty easy just tied it to the corner posts in the tent then used zip ties to lock the height.

I need to tie the centre of the screen down and the edges to stop it being pushed up but i can do that a little closer to the time in case i want to adjust anything before the ladies hit the screen.

Hello again..

Update time is here agina folks

Day 11 (from seed)

Ok so I checked both ladies again this morning and they are both looking happy and healthy, both are widening out and the kalashnikova is starting to devolp its next node / tier or what ever you want to call it..

The ph had drifted to 6.3 on both buckets so before I rebalanced to 5.8 I topped up both buckets with around a half litre of water / nutes (I always mix 20L of feed for each bucket so I end up with a few litres spare for top ups).

The kalashnikova has its first root through the netpot yey so hopefully it will be taking off soon as it has direct access to the nutes n water. The supersonic crystal storm is nearly the same (I can see the roots winding through the hydroten and nearly at the bottom of the net pot). I'll take some pics of the root system next week as I dont want to expose the roots to too much light while theyre young.

Pics - Day 11

Another update.

Hello

So its now 12 days since these ladies went in the ground and things are looking sweet, nice growth from both plants and all looking healthy. The kalashnikova seems to have a little nute burn, funnily enough were one of the "white" marks are.

I've topped up both ladies with about a half litre of ph balanced water today, the ph as ever drifted to 6.3 over night. According to the breeders info the supersonic crystal storm should start to take off as of today with "explosive growth", as its my first auto im dubious but we shall see.

Pics, day 12 (from seed)

Temp 25.8
Humidity 51%

IMG_0572.jpgIMG_0573.jpgIMG_0575.jpgIMG_0576.jpgIMG_0574.jpg

Im hoping that what I have read from so many people about the genetics from Green House Seeds doesnt hold true but am slighty worrried i have to admit, we shall see though huh??

Anybody else got experience with this strain or with Green House Seeds they'd like to share??

More soon folks
