The Movie Review Thread

This thread is for people to talk about movies. I really like analyzing visual communication and directing videos/short films yada yada yada. I watch movies ALOT. I like to talk about plot and angles and video effects etc. I am always open for new video recomendations. If you post a review, please give us all a heads up if you will be including spoilers in your review.

I guess I can start by saying the last movie I just watched was "The Mist" based on a novel by Stephen King. I just lost two hours of my life I will never get back. I watched it alone here at my house and I have noone to review or talk about it with so I was inspired to begin this thread.

**Some what of spoilers beyond this point**

Take (1) a mysterious threat that attacks a town, and (2) a group of townspeople who take refuge together, and you have a formula apparently able to generate any number of horror movies, from "Night of the Living Dead" to "30 Days of Night." All you have to do is choose a different threat and a new place of refuge, and use typecasting and personality traits so we can tell the characters apart. Oh, and a rift in the space time continuum. Space time continuums suck cuz it doesn't help explain, it's just like "Oh well - there was a rift ya see" and thats all that need to be said - come on.

If you are into hidden things that jump out at people and low budget effects (which I totally love sometimes) then you will like it. If you think Frank Darabont has equaled the "Shawshank" and "Green Mile" track record, you will be sadly mistaken.

Geez yes "the Mist" what a piece of shite! The book sucked too.The whole thing was a rip-off of a story I read in Creepy magazine inthe sixties! And I think that might have been stolen from an even older EC comic story. I gave up on King years ago, won't read him, won't see movies based on his work. The only film adaptions that were any good were "The Shining", (Kubrick and Nicholson,) and "The Dead Zone",(Cronenberg).

Those are definetly two of the best. I had to mention Shawshank above cause I think that is one of his most important pieces of work he has ever been involved with.

After watching the remake of 'war of the worlds' a few years back, I stopped watching movies it was such a dissappointment.

Last movies I enjoyed were 'Constantine', 'Troy', and 'Kingdom of Heaven'.

Great movie, but when you watch it stoned, and w/ todays CGI for comparison, the models of the At-Ats and special effects look kind of cheesy.

Cinematic masterpiec tho'. Revolutionary.

Makes you wonder how they could fukk up the newest 3 Star Wars flicks..

I haven't seen a movie in like 6 months, but I'm ready for a binge Now.

The Invisible...now THAT movie SUCKED HARD. My mom rented it, so we all got stoned and watched it last night...and yeah, even stoned, the movie fucking sucked.

It was just unbelievable and shitty and they kept adding dialogue to make sure the audience caught the point they were trying to make....bad, bad movie. Shame on them.
