Yup. That'll do.
erm, i dont think so...

dont forget to subtract the height of the hps away from your already small 2 ft. 2 ft - 7 inches = 1 ft 5 inches

gona be tight.....and hot....

unless you have some hella cooling system it will just cook your plants. stick with cfl's for that type of space.

i have a 150w hps in a 2x2x3 box and i run into heat issues with a 70 cfm exhaust and 45cfm intake.

i used a 150 in my closet for 2 plants about 18" or so and it worked perfectly, only prob was when i started getting into the spring and the temp started risin outside i begin to encounter heat issues

if you choose to still go the hps route i wouldn't suggest anything smaller in size then what i am running. 2x2x3. like i said i have a nice cooling setup and i still get some off temps here and there.
2x2x3 = 12 cubic feet, i wouldnt go much less then that.

really just trying to save you from buying something that will do the same as sticking your plants in the oven at 150 degrees

Pimpkin is right.
I have a 150w hps in a fridge that is 2x2x3.5 and i have a hell of a time getting the temps bellow 80.
It took a lot of air flow to get my temps down.

Try using a small DIY 'Cool-Tube' You'll get away with a 150W HPS easy and if you also add a separate in and out-take to draw through fresh air as well as move the extra heat out of the room you 'could' possible get away with using a 250W HPS.. You'll need fans with a high CFM rating.. but it depends how determined you are to get it to work... and your funds! :) :) - STELTHY :leaf:

I have a 250w hps in a full closet, and I still have a bit of trouble with the heat. I have two fans blowing in the room(one directly on the light) and one intake fan. I had a 2 feet cardboard box with CFL's before I cleared out my closet, and the plant outgrew the box by its 2nd or 3rd week in flower(Vegged for 18 days). I also had a lot of issues with leaves growing into the bulbs and burning. The plants under my HPS now, and is looking beautiful. Long story short, I would try and find a bigger box, even for cfls. If youre going with the HPS try and get at least 4 feet because you need to take the foot to a foot & a half that the light will take up into account. Good luck!
P.S. I have pictures of the plant flowering in the 2 foot box if you want to check them out for research purposes.

Are you using an air-cooled Reflector or Cool-Tube ?? - STELTHY :leaf:

I would rethink your bulb situation. Although everyone would want to use an hps, sometimes it is not possible... I have some t5 cfl's in a box that is 3' wide by 2' tall and 18'' deep, and it took me a couple hundred extra dollars to get the heat down. If you are working with a box less than 10 square feet, use another type of light... but, maybe you got some cash and you could get a badass ventilation system around your bulb. that would be the only way amigo.

I have a high powered fan blowing on my ballast, with an air intake to the grow space and a third fan in the room oscillating to circulate the air. Works like a charm. Fuck an expensive ventilation system! haha

70W HPS with CFL side lighting is also an option :) but an air-cooled tube/hood is still a must to keep temps low in a small space !! - STELTHY :leaf:

hahaha, yeah man i have two fans blowing on my bulbs and an exhaust fan... it sucks, but it works...

Hey man, I had the best cheap idea recently, and it brought my temps down about 6 degrees!!! Alright, so not sure if you have a hood with glass so you can keep just that heat vented out constantly, but i made a ghetto one. Go to wal mart and get a plastic tub that has a completely clear lid. just keep it in between your bulb and plants with air blowing acrossed the bulb, and an exhaust sucking it right out... worked great for my rig.. super ghetto, and only 10 bucks. maybe this will spark some ideas buddy, Good Luck.
