You've got a while to go yet Shiva. A rough guide to ripeness and 'readiness' is to watch the pistils, once about 70-90% of them have turned brown its about ready. For a more accurate guide and better understanding of harvest times take a look at the post I posted earlier -Can any of you advise when you think i may have to harvest these babies???

This is probably the more accurate way to tell - to look at the colour of the trichomes or 'crystals' as you like to call them I'd say you have at least another 3-4 weeks to go yet, probably longer.
There is a cheap way of making hash from the 'kif', I'll look it up for you.
I'll bear it in mind... would also definitely advise you read babygro's link too about flowering...really helpful!if they turn brown i heard you've waited to long, when they have turned red like yours have... dont feed them eny more... just plain water... but ur only in the 5th week so id give her 2 more weeks of nutrients... then for the last 2 weeks just plain water... and 2 days before you harvest shut ur lights off... u wont regret it!
There are literally hundreds of different ways of making hash, some simple, some complex, some easy some hard. For a small quantity, this ones hard to beat. It's small, it's cheap and for small quantities will probably give you the best result for the least cash. Also, if anyone can advise on the easiest, cheapest way of getting the most out of the clipped leaves when harvesting that would be great.
hi mate... it really does depend on your grow area, mine is basically a small enclosed wardrobe which i custom built from melamine. If yours is enclosed I would advise (and speaking from my newfound experience)...shiva mad good job dude. Ur buds look beautiful. I have a question about ur air circulation. In my grow room I have 1 fan on three plants. Is that sufficient or what> ? I thinjk these are dying and im gonna start a hydroponics system do you think one or two fans is gonna cut it how did you configure all that?
Yeah I certainly did and thanks for compliment! I was very optimistic but really a little loving care every single day, monitoring moisture in soil and ph values goes a long way!Not bad, and u grew it under a 200w fluro? looks decent
I was a total newbie to growing when i started this journal but i did research it for about 3 months beforehand, deciding what kind of lighting, conditions etc so i will advise read up before you start and best of luck!dude your plants look mighty fine! thanks for the journal, I am starting my first plants in over 25 years (old-timer) but I thought it would take me 2 or 3 tries before I could get results like yours. maybe I will get lucky and get it right first try
i may have to try that later - i guess it produces a differnt kind of plant huh?hi shiva a good choice iv'e grown shiva shanti 2 and its a good smoke. use a 20w halogen for seedlings til there 6in with three sets of leaves then cook them under a big hps light

Buy a cheap bathroom extractor fan and the correct electrical wire and fused plug and reverse it and install it into your growing area so that instead of extracting air it will be sucking fresh air from outside into your growroom.
If you make sure you have a vent near the top of your growroom area then the bad air will be expelled through it, keeping a constant fresh supply of air running through the room.
The stems on my plants are well chunky, really really strong and that was with one bathroom extractor fan running 24hours every day of the grow.
Best of luck - any more questions - just ask!
Hi Roor. Hi mate... if you imagine one of those bathroom extractor fans on your bathroom ceiling and it's drawing the condensation out of your bathroom probably through a duct to the outside of your house or into your loft or something, well mate, all you have to do is cut a hole in your growroom door the same size as the fan, and simply push the fan into that size hole but literally flip it 180° so it's fitted on technically back to front so it still works as an extractor but instead of suckin bad condensation out of your bathroom it will be suckin fresh air into your growroom! Just screw it on, then wire it up, attach a duct and if poss get the duct to suck in fresh air from outside... hope this makes some sense! If not, let me know and I'll post a pic!
So you used one of those bathroom extractor fans and it worked for you? Where did you put it exactly? how do you get the air in with an extractor fan how do you reverse it
