I have the same issues with the soil here too, that's why I'm using smart pots now. On the one grow though, I dug the ground up good under where the pots were going, and ammended the soil, and cut holes in the bottom of pots to let the roots go through. I m gonna be working on my soil the next couple years, a little at a time, and I'm gonna use smart pots till I get it how I want it. That way I can use it, and be working it at the same time!! Just an idea, you might want to think about.they are simply raised beds. my native soil is a nightmare: gophers, highly alkaline, too much clay etc. building a living soil that keeps critters out is what i ultimately want but that is long term project. some of the benefits of the smart pot are portable, breathing container that can be cleaned. promotes lots of lateral root development by preventing the roots from becoming rootbound via air-pruning
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to kushking42 again.no shade from the ladies as the sun doesnt track that way. im only in the tent at night so its all good. i hear what your saying about utilizing the smarties at the same time as rebuilding a living soil, however i dont have any where else to put the pots while i work the land. hopefully i will be in the emerald triangle next year so i can move the pots and begin building the soil while i continue farming elsewhere.
been busy harvesting some of my qrazy train #15 (tw leaning) pheno. as caterpillars are having a party in the big colas. expected, yet still frustrating, as i have been extremely pro-active this season after dealing with losses last year. spinosad and bt full strength rotated every 6 days only mitigates the problem. i am convinced that the only way to be 100 percent caterpillar/mold proof is to greenhouse the ladies with all the bells and whistles. you better believe if i get my orchard in humboldt these beezy's are gonna be covered.
aside from that we are getting some hot ass weather and watering with 5 gallon buckets and scooping out a litre at a time for 130 gallons is taking its toll! i have always hand watered, even 20k warehouse, drain to waste rockwool, as a matter of pride but there is not enough time in the day!
sunset pics tonight. the next update will have one less lady as the purp d is pretty much ready. the size of the colas has me nervous regarding mold and eagerly anticipating harvest.
cheers to all that have come and said nice encouraging things throughout this thread. please do not take offense if i dont reply to the "slaps on the back" as this thread would have turned into more of a monster than it already is. but im fairly certain i have answered all questions and will continue to do so. oh and i just figured out how to read the +rep remarks so thanks to everyone for those too!
yes, indoors. popped 20 beans found 1 truly amazing querkle dom. she has everything you're looking for in structure, purple, purple hue, urkel smell and insane resin production. another was wreck dom which was some good chronic: classic tw, structure, smell that also turned purple. i deemed it good enough to put outdoors and it flowers much faster than the querkel dom (outside). and another i would say is a querkel leaning hybrid that is green and i believe takes on some serious space queen characteristics, and pretty special in its own right. i will be eliminating the wreck dom pheno after this harvest.Have you grown the Quazy Train before? I've been thinking of giving that one a shot
Thanks for the info, that's good to know. I've never been a huge trainwreck fan, I don't really care for the taste of it. Urkle on the other hand, I love dearly.yes, indoors. popped 20 beans found 1 truly amazing querkle dom. she has everything you're looking for in structure, purple, purple hue, urkel smell and insane resin production. another was wreck dom which was some good chronic: classic tw, structure, smell that also turned purple. i deemed it good enough to put outdoors and it flowers much faster than the querkel dom (outside). and another i would say is a querkel leaning hybrid that is green and i believe takes on some serious space queen characteristics, and pretty special in its own right. i will be eliminating the wreck dom pheno after this harvest.
