I have a daughter, and while I don't like doing it, there are times she'll flat out test me and won't listen until I do. Obviously you have to keep your anger in check, so I make it a point to take a deep breath when possible and calm myself down, THEN beat her. I only beat her on the but (sometimes I've had some misses, she can move fast, and she's slipped out of my grasp a few times)

Obviously I haven't gone to far, because it takes her less then 5 minutes to start acting like it never happened. Though she's had to have surgeries already, so I think her pain scale is a little jacked up.

I'm indifferent about spanking.

I don't think a child under 1 should be spanked and I don't think a child over 10 should be spanked. Also, parents/caregivers should be cautious on the severity of their spanking because it can easily get out of hand.

I think spanking is a win/lose type of deal, but when children don't listen for shit and they aren't learning, what the hell do you do?

lol yeah that will happen. thats how my mom was raised. she was spoiled rotten. was on covers of magazines at 14. vouge and 17teen mag. spoiled rotten and her daddy wouldnt let anyone lay a finger on her. shes still a brat to this day. My childhood was a loooong time ago, but I think corporal punishment was much more in favor then than it is now. As I recall, it was more my mom who did the whippin'. She used a spatula lol. Occasionally my dad's belt came off too. The teachers had pretty much free reign too when it was called for.
