Can I put clones directly into the light of my grow chamber?

In 12 days the 10 clones I ordered will be ready and rooted.

I do not yet have multiple grow chambers with different light intensities (i.e. florescent). What I do have is a 600 W HPS on a pulley in a single grow room that is 6.5' high.

Can I put the rooted clone cubes directly into Coco Coir and turn the lights on? Will I kill the plants with that much energy? How far away should the light be from the plants initially?

When can I keep the light close to the plants? How far away should the bulb be during the grow.

if the plants are rooted then you should be ok, just start off with the light as far away as you can and move it closer each day so the plants can get used to it! stop when the light is about 12-16 inches away from tops, if your using a cool shade then 6-8 inches is good, place your hand palm down on the top of your plant, if you can feel the heat/burns on your hand then move it up till you carnt, remember to leave enough room for your plants to grow without burning.

p.s its to much light for unrooted clones and theres a high chance you will kill them.

Thanks Robsterb...the clones will be rooted...they are preparing the cuttings for 2 weeks prior to me using them. I will start the light at the top of the grow chamber and move it down a little each day.

I know this is another thread, but do you know if I'm growing 10 plants in a 4' x 4' area how big they should be before I switch over to 12/12?

This is my first grow in this set up. I was hoping to grow some short plants...I hope it all works out. Maybe next time I'll try fewer plants and let them veg more. I'm open to suggestions.

ok well depending on the size of the clones i would maybe veg them for a week-2 weeks just to see how they react to the 600hps and to get a somewhat good harvest then put them on the 12/12 and also on the size of then do 10 as u were thats fine if there all going to be short. have u ever cloned before ur self soon as u find out the sex of the plants or are they female clone already not sure if u said that

They are all going to be female and the cloning procedure is going to take place by someone who hopefully knows what they are doing.

Is your light brighter than the sun? No you say, then if kept at a proper distance in respect to light intensity they should be fine.
