Maximizing yields?

I was interested in what some of you do to maximize your yields. Every trip to the hydro shop I see nutes/additives that say they produce bigger, heavier, denser yeilds. But these products run close to $100 for one small bottle. Not sure if they are worth the investment.

I came across a grow, the set-up is a home made NFT system, 600w MH/HPS, 2 small fans, and Advance Nutes were being used. The three plants that were growing look like a forest. But the fear is, with only have a 600w HPS running, the potential yield is likely not to happen. Would it just be easier to get another 600w, or is there any other techniques, nutes, additives, that could be used to help the yield?

I've heard of it, but never really researched it. Is it similar to topping a plant? Has anyone ever used "Bud Candy", "Overdrive", or any other similar bloom booster?

I use Kool Bloom powder made by General Hydroponics. A friend of mine uses M.O.A.B. and another friend of mine uses Humboldts Big Up Powder. It's all in your preference really...

each of those products contains a list of active ingredients. find out what those ingredients are and use them on their own. research research research.
in terms of fertilizer, you have a lot of choices my man. i use a rough mix of manures, guanos, worm castings, molasses and liquid fish/kelp emulsion.

high yields come come experience, research, dedication and love my friend, not $100 bottles of anything.

You couldn't have said this any better. I'm starting to believe this is true myself. Although I do like the results of Advance Nutes Micro, Bloom, Grow.

high yield technique:. topping, scrog, low stress training, supercropping, FIM. research it. Decide which ones work best for you, practice it, and then learn it.

The plants in the pictures were topped once at an early age and they sure bushed out alot. The plants in the pics are also being LST'd, not much, just some of the larger branches were pulled outwards and held in place with string to open up the middle to the light, but it filled in real quick. The concern now is that 600w isn't enough to penetrate the tops layer and get an O out of each plant there, (3 of them total). Last grow was one plant and got 3 O's out of the one plant. Do you think those results can be replicated without adding more light?

I don't know. I'm pretty happy with my $25 bag of kool bloom powder.

LST and SC are also involved here so who really knows...

Very nice Dubbz! I have seen Kool Bloom at the store but could it be used in a hydro system? I guess one could dissolve the powder in some warm water, let it cool and then add it to the reservoir. Now when people mention super cropping, what all is involved in that?

Nice pics there munch, especially the third one :). How many plants are there in that first picture, how many watts were being used, and how much was the outcome? I see pics like that online all the time, but can never replicate the results.

Well, my doctor says I can grow six ;) I'm running 600 watts in a 5x5 tent right now. But as soon as I go to Alternative Health Solutions in Modesto, I can get a script for up to 99 plants:mrgreen:

Definitely. My friend that recommended it to me runs nothing but hydro.

Check out this thread for supercropping: https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/413359-supercropping-canopy-control.html

Those are usually also found in the grocery store in the aisle marked Molasses.

I believe cranker is referring to the products "Bud Candy" and "Overdrive", not that I care (and I do use Overdrive) but there is much more in the two products listed than what is contained in grocery store molasses.

From what I have found increasing the amount of potassium for the last month helps. This doesnt mean just give it higher conentrations of bloom ferts, it means adding something that is 0-0-x x being 3-5. The cheapest source for this is mollasses, but there are many nutrients designed for MJ that come in a 0-0- x formula. I might be wrong, but this is what I have found at least. I think the reason for this is that aside from keeping your bud with potassium a-plenty, it makes sire that you're roots are healthy too maximizing the amounts of nutes they can take up. I think the bids will rob the roots of potassium if they dont have enough causing the roots to get sick taking up less mites....downward spiral from there. Again, I could be wrong. Just what I think might behappening.
