Rooting Clones

Morning al. just thought of question that I could use some help with. say I wanted to root clones and grow them at least 12 to 18 inches befor transplanting. in rockwool. Instead of using a small grow tent, would I be able to use just a humidity dome and a light source such as a t5 in an open room to root or even veg them? T/I/V/

Yes, a T-5 is an excellent light source for rooting, vegging, and flowering. I have two myself and use them strictly for vegging and cloning. Once they root in rockwool, remove the humidity dome and transplant them into a medium. Rockwool by itself (in open air) is not a good medium unless you're going to grow hydroponically. Also, a tent (or an enclosed room for that matter) is not necessary by any means, but it does increase efficiency.

yes but 12 to 18 inches might be too tall for most of the domes i've seen. also watch out for you roots air pruning hanging on to clones for a long time

i clone in my veg room with no humidity dome or medium for the plants. Just a res with a pump and one 360 ez-cloner sprayer head attached. Works best if its on a timer.
So you could use rockwool if ya really wanted ( I wouldnt want to). Keys to rockwool cloning seeem to be keeping light off the cube and let it dry out before soaking it again. Don't drown your baby!

edit: also I use a 4bulb T5

So can I assume that an established mother plant be kept as more of a house plant with decent lighting?

buy a bunch of T5's keep your mothers on them and clone keep it all in one room the little heat coming from the lights will keep room warm and humidity just right
