People seem to love this vid on another thread I've been in, wondering if anyone's ever grown this:

I think it looks awesome and I'd love to trick dumb friends into thinking it's a special strain.

My grandmother had one when I was younger....among a bunch of fly traps too. I always remember being fascinated.

For what I know they are a hardy fern plant too, but cant survive up past Albama. Don't quote me....I'd research first

I've seen some of a similar species growing wild here but they aren't as sensitive. I'm growing flytraps and sundews in my grow rooms now, my dog tends to carry moths inside to play with them and I spent 6 hours with a 10x mag glass picking caterpillars off my plants.

I always tried up north every year growing fly traps....never in my grow room, just in a window. They always turn black a die on me within a couple weeks. I never once thought of going online to research them.

this is the mimosa tree

A lot of people say they grow them for fun, but I'm surprised as many people as try to make their grows organic there's not more people with sundews, which I'd assume would be most effective. That'd take care of a gnat problem pretty much straight out.

I ordered several types of venus fly traps @ different ages from 3-10 years old.. I am going to have a venus fly trap garden & hopefully raise one to be 5 ft & teach it to talk.

That is a Mimosa tree & as pretty as they look they are a job to dig up !
My folks had one in the yard that died & it took 2 days, 3 men & a freakin tractor to get the stump out !
I still sweat when I think of that stump.
