Hi,

will my plant bud under 6400? I know its best to flower under 2700, but i only have this for now and cant really afford another 2700 which I plan to buy on my next grow or very soon. Here is what i found on some other forums:

Q:
Hey folks,
Like a good newbie, I searched 20 pages to find an answer (to no avail)....
I have (2) 125 W CFL grow lights. Each is capable of 6400 K (whatever that means).
Question: Is this enough wattage to grow a few plants? Is the spectrum sufficient for veg and flowering. Also, I have one security light that is a 35 watt HPS. Is that even worth using?
I like the fact that these lights will generate less heat energy and therefore less $$$ energy....
lemme know.

A:The 6400K refers to the spectrum of light that is produced by the lamp, 6400 is heavily tilted toward the blue end of the spectrum. That will make it good for vegetative growth, but plants will flower under them too. With the two lamps you could probably cover and area of about 4 sqft. or so. That is big enough for a few plants. Adding a warm compact flourescent (more red) could help with flowering. I grew my first plant under four 45w compact flourecents. It grew and flowered fine. So basically those will work for just a couple plants. If you don't have a lot of room, they are the way to go for very small spaces.

If you decide to flower under those lamps, try and trim off all the flowering sites that are below the top 6-8" of the plant. This will concentrate the budding to the areas that recieve a good amount of light, increasing yield and bud quality. Don't expect large tight buds, but you will get buds.

Could I get 1oz out of 1 northern lights plant under 125w 6400K?
Silly question i know, just tell me what you think.

I wouldnt recommend flowering under a 6400K light. It will flower but you need that red from 2700K. 1 ounce is an arbitrary number its dependant on so many factors. But with only 1 125 watt CFL all the other growing conditions have to be perfect, I could see you pulling 2-3 ounces.
