urca, not to jump on you or anything, as that's not what i'm hear to do at all.. but think of it this way.. say your mom was a junky instead of a meth addict, and while she was out there doing her thing, she caught hep, or even better yet, the aids, and she came home one night to you and your brother and sister, and managed to share the wealth with the rest of the family... or mayb even caught it before you were born and simply by the birthing process, you and your twin would have been exposed to the virus and more than likely would have gotten it as well..
by simply giving out clean needles to people who are already actively using drugs and needles, all they are doing is cutting down on the innocent victims of addiction.. you know, the loving partner at home who did nothing wrong but love and addict but still caught hep or aids by sleeping with their husband / wife.
i honestly can't believe that you of all people wouldn't think that this is a good idea.. you came from an addictive back ground.. i think that you feel that by giving out clean needles and pipes, these programs are some how saying that it is ok to use, and in turn enabling it further, where nothing could be further from the truth.. people who are in the position aren't going to be people who are using meth or heroin or whatever drug for the first time, period.. these are hardcore addicts who can simply use a small break in life, and if that means giving out free works so that they have one less thing to worry about, so be it i say.. not to mention bringing shit home to their families and all..

oh yah, i forgot about your other point of consequences of using.. trust me, even if you get a clean needle or pipe, addicts still face tons, and i mean tons of consequences for their actions.. why put the people that they love through more bs that can easily be avoided like bringing unwanted diseases into innocent households..???

why does the government need to open and pay for an entire building just to give out sterile needles and disinfectant wipes?
can't they just supply these things at local hospitals/walk-in clinics for junkies to come in and get free of charge?
