hello! some ppl have been following my posts. but some haven't so i will update the few that have not. my set up is as follows:

===VEG ROOM===
*t5 4 bulb set up
*normal fluorescent 4-bulb fixture for clones and seedlings

===FLOWER TENT===
*4x4x7 Sunhut XL
*Magnum 8" Hood - The Ocho
*1000w Galaxy Dimable Ballast
*1000w Digilux Bulb
*8" C.F.M Exhaust Fan
*Sun Grips

ok! now that is my set up. i have the tent in a 150sq ft. and the veg/clone/mother chamber is my closet. i do not know what the ambient temp is in the room, but the tent does not get above 84 degrees and the closet stays the same. the humidity is around 45-60%, depending on if i watered that day or if it the lights are on or not. i just purchased a nice 10,000btu Sharp portable a/c unit. it has got great reviews! everyone that has one says it keeps there 300sq ft rooms nice and cool. i want the ambient temp to be between 60-70. im really hoping once summer is over i won't have to run the a/c unit. but until i hope this will work. so my question is will this a/c unit keep the room temp to 65-75 degrees? will the tent be cooler with the light on? i was told the 8" fan should keep the tent cool, but i don't think 84 is really cool. i can touch the glass on the hood, but big whoopie! i need it to be cold in there. i have some strains i want to force purple. plus, i just think they will be much much happier in there element. should this idea work??? until i had the air cooled hood i hada 400w bulb and an open hood. it got to 91 in the tent. thats ridiculous!!

oh!! btw .... i plan on getting a BADASS BLADES fan for the closet. i also try to keep the closet door shut, but the humidity and temps sky rocket when i do that. i can't wait for summer to be over!!

so you don't have a cooltube? if so, i think you needed air cooled hood before getting an A/C.

huh??
do you not know what hood im using?? did i confuse you somehow? yes my friend the hood is air cooled. THE OCHO is air cooled. i have the exhaust fan hooked up to it. sucking the hot air out of my tent, but because the ambient temp outside the temp is also 84, im wondering if i have the a/c on and i can get the ambient air temp out side the tent to 70-75, once the light is on in the tent and the tent is open (i have to open the tent when light and fan are running) will the temp inside the tent be lower? that is my question. i know i will not have this issue come December, however, it may still be an issue. its hard to tell, its hot as fuck here. and the air conditioning inside the house doesn't work so well in that room. hence the portable a/c unit.

i don't know why you would assume that everyone would know wat "THE OCHO" is lol

anyway, the A/C will sure help if it's cooling the area where your intalking from. if it's not enough and since the unit is portable, you could just let it blow into your tent by making an opening and ducting the outlet on the A/C blower to the outside, it will be better to insulatew that hot ducting too. damn hot here too, can't stand it

well, anyone with half a brain and a tiny bit of knowledge on growing supplies should, plus people that know how to read will. i stated in the first post, right next to the word - HOOD. plus if they do not know what it is off hand, then i do not think they will be knowledgeable enough to help me. so its all good in my hood!!!

and yeah i have 2 holes ported outside and 2 ducting tubes. whatever, im drawing a blank on the proper terminology! but i have the duct work from my tent sucking th ehot air out and a duct work form my portable a/c unit going out. im virtually sucking all the hot air out of my room and outside. and yeah i can open my tent, and i can put the cold air coming from the a/c unit into the tent, but only during the day (the ON cycle of the lights, which technically is at night time in real time). i have cheaper electric rates at night. im on the 7pm-noon plan. so i run my lights from 8pm-8am. in the winter, i have a feeling i may have to worry bout warming the room up. but that is very easy!! so you think it will work then eh? i have a temp gun and the walls are 80 degrees so im hoping i can get the temps nice and cool. guess i will find out tomorrow. i have the a/c. just needed to port the exhaust. i finally have the tools to do it with. so progress tomorrow!!!

i'm not very knowlegable in growing supplies as i am a DIY type, but more importantly i am knowlegable in growing weed and that is what matters :)
if you can cut a window in your tent just as big as the A/C, then it will work more efficiently, spend less electric, and most of all, you won't have to shut your tent then reopen it every 12 hours. i do the same with my A/C if i have to run it, i use same opening for my dehumidifier

i have a huge opening in the back of my tent and the vertical zipper with horizontal zippers up front. its a pretty neat-o tent. so i really have the access already, i just have to keep my closet door open, and out spews light! i will find out today how good the a/c works. i finally have the exhaust hooked up. finally!! after asking 5 of my friends, all of which they said would help and gave me last minute excuses, bitches...just wait! so i cut it it by hand, loL!!!

Where is your exhaust air going to?

Where are you intaking air from?

If the answer to these 2 questions is the same room then here lies your problem.

I have a whole room in which i am exhausting the heat into. the intake air...i just have on exhaust, and one a/c unit. both being exhausted in the same area. basically, im using the air inside the tent. my goal, and so far IT IS WORKING!!! was to get the ambient room temp the room in which the tent is in to 75 or lower. that makes the tent, 79 with the lights out. if i wanted to i could crack the tent open a little and just let the a/c air cool the inside of the tent. then i would have light creep into the tent. until i can seal the veg closet, this is what must be done. and so far so good, its working exactly how i wanted to. except for one thing... the fan was sucking so much heat off the hood that there was a hot draft coming back in from the exhaust room. easy fix, just duct tapped the door closed all along the frame. no light, no draft, no heat!!! its working AWESOME!!! my friend who is helping me with installing stuff was a a/c guy for years. so he has well informed me about heat and exhaust issues. once summer is over, i have a feeling that it may get too cold in there. i highly doubt that it will drop below 65, and i hope it does get that cold!!! time to bust out the purple strains!!!

i just wanted to say.... i tried to edit my post. please do not take what i say literally. i say a lot of shit and some times people take what i say the wrong way. if you have knowledge on DIY gardening that is great! i did not mean to sound like mean to sounds like a dick. i just want highly knowledgeable info from highly knowledgeable people. no, you do not need to know about every product under the sun to be experienced. but it will make me feel more comfortable with listing to your advise. and with me actually stating next to the word HOOD, the title to the hood, if it is not in plain English then i couldn't explain it any better and it may be a reading issue. just do not take offense to the shit i say. i try to remain as positive and open-minded about stuff as humanly possibly. but i draw a line on ignorance and stupidity. a well established grower should be educated in reading. that is all i was trying to, was to get my point across. sorry if i offended any of you. i apologize. i tried editing, but i suppose it was too late.

the ambient temp is now 68-75. i seen it even say 66!! with the tent open and light on the ambient temps get to 75! which is freaking awesome!! i have to turn the a/c off at noon-6:30pm. mainly to conserve a little energy. i crank it back up at 6:30 and then by the time i turn the light on (which is at the 1000w setting) it only gets to 79, in the tent, with the light on. NOT BAD!! when summer is over im hoping i will not need the a/c unit, but we will see. i also have the veg closet, with the door cracked the temps creep down in there as well. i do not have anything to gauge the temps or humidity with, but i can fell it! i need like 10 of them damn digi thermometers now! i do not think i will be able to get the tent temp any lower seeing i have a 1000w bulb in there. but im WAYYYYY happy with 79. i was told that when i get the Co2 pumping in there that 82-84 would be better...do not quote me on that. im still trying to figure out if that is true and what not. i have no knowledge on Co2. but thats the next step.
