A total noob idiot jumps the gun.

I've been really excited lately about building my first grow room (H:9 feet, W:5 feet and L:3 feet). I've taken delivery of a 600 watt digital ballast and a Magnum XXXL reflector. Next purchases include MH/HPS, fans, ORCA, AIRPOTS and loads of the best general equipment I can get.
This morning at work though something dawned on me, clones! I only have a small room and all available space is for my flowers, I want yield. The next available and only other space is my wardrobe 19 inches depth, 30 inches width and 57 inches height.
The clones will have be in there for 8 or 9 weeks whilst my girls are in flower, so surely they'll be too big for that small space eventually. And what about lights? Wont it get too hot in there? What lights should I use to veg my clones for over 2 months.
I feel very stupid, the only way I can see out of this is to keep on buying seeds and do one grow at a time.

Anybody got any advice or help,

you can still use that wardrobe for vegging . Just use a T-5 floressent light set up. 2' , four tube lights.

stagger your flowering plants. every month harvest half of your plants and replace them from your veg. this will cut down on your veg time and give you a perpetual harvest every month.

plenty of room for vegging a mother and doing clones in that wardrobe. you only need a small tray for the clones. set it right next to a small mother plant in the wardrobe.

Genius!! Just keep one small lady then clone from her when is closer to the time. I didn't think off that!
What type of lights should I was? One of those 4 tube T5's wont fit. How about a double 250 watt CFL reflector? Do they let of much heat?

How bout a tek 55 lighting system. The problem with t5s in 2 foot is a max wattage of 27 i believe. A tek 55 is like a doubled up t5... think T5 meets CFL. These at 2 foot are the same wattage as 4' T5s. The one I have is 24" x 12" so it'll fit nicely in there. Not much heat at all. My tek 55. spot runs at 85F with only a tiny fan for circulation. I don;t know if we are allowed to post from stores here but just type HTG and Tek 55 into google. Its a good deal and I'm about to get a second one.

T5's work amazingly and produce little heat. Make sure you have an oscillating fan to thicken your stalks.

Do you absolutely have to veg for 2 months? They're going to stretch even more when you put them into flower. I have a few plants in my basement that have been in veg for less than 6 weeks and they're already HUGE! Only reason I haven't thrown them into flowering is because my flowering room is full.

I am using a T-5 light now and I am very happy. It produces very little heat and I use a little 6" fan to keep air moving. I just started a new batch of clones a few days ago.

if you're looking for yield, ditch the hood and go vertical bare bulb. turn the closet into a small veg area, and take clones the 1-3 weeks of flower. it may set your flowering plants back a few days, but the clones from the flowering period will take a bit longer to root also. probably a week or 2 longer, but the results when they do will double your harvest. look up "super cropping." although it's not "cropping" the result is much like it with 4 or more tops usually.

the reason for ditching the hood is to maximize your lighting, and plant count. there is no shade anywhere from a bare bulb. if you use a hood you're getting less than 1/2 of the bulbs output, and the rest is reflected light. put some shelving on the walls and stuff 6 more plants in there. in the end plant count dictates yield.

I personally use Two separate rooms, a Lights On room and a Dark room. Enables one to use their Main Lighting source for 2x batches of 12/12 plants. I have to physically Move my plants from the Light room to the Dark room every 12 hours and vice versa.. >.< Don't ask how I do it.. but it gets done.. So my 2x 600w & my 4ft t5 stay on 24/7.

Forgive me if i'm stoopid...you pick up and move the plants from the "Dark" room to the "Light" room and the Light room plants into the Dark every 12 hours? Uhhh...manual labor?

this is the best advice I've seen given out.. in a LONG time.

if you go off and try and keep both your flowering plants and the plants you have still in veg. cycle... in the same room... eh, its just not going to work out for you. Not too well anyhow. You'll more than likely run into problems if you try doing it that way.

So I have to agree 100% with your advice. It's best to have two different areas/rooms.. one being for VEG cycles ONLY.. and the other, of course for FLOWERING cycles only.
