lol i got ya bro about the smaller drain sure i will do that really small drill size about dime , not quarter !! I think i will go for 100% perlite only, i appreciate your tip, gotta give ya +rep, thanksi guess you could go either way, i personally just use 100% perlite, it's main benefit imo is the ph neutrality of it, but then again, i believe hydroton is ph neutral too...i have never used hydroton, so i can't speak poorly or positively about it...
i guess if you have some hydroton, maybe do one bucket with hydroton filling the res, as something to compare the other with...hell if you do one with hydroton at the bottom, and that one's doing better than the rest, i'll probably try it!
i stick with just perlite cause it just adds to the ease of an already simple way to grow...oh, a word of advice, when you make your hole in your bucket, make it small, enough for water to drain out, right now i have perlite all over the place all the time cause i made 'em wayyyy too big, about an inch square!
god i love hempy buckets! really, if you look through posts i've made, i always try to represent hempys every chance i get! i couldn't imagine growing any other way, it just seems like i'd be adding more things that i could mess up
i have thrown freshly rooted clones straight into 5 gal hempy buckets with 100% per and they grew quite fast, i dont believe there is any reason at all to have to transplant anything. i also have always done a feed, water, feed, water, etc etc... if you dont plan on running straight water through your buckets every other feeding i would strongly recommend measuring the run off every so ofter because the fist hempy i ran i feed all the time and over a period of time the standing water in the bottom 2" was so strong it fried my plant after that i flushed every other feeding with ph'd water and no nutes. i like to feed every morning when the lights come on with a gal of nute water then right before the lights go out i like to throw another gal of straight ph'd water through it as it is nearly impossible to overwater when using 100% per, i have also done this with hydroton with good results.thanks for that info... last question im pretty sure, i got some autos and i heard you are suppose to transfer before flowering, but the autos are suppose to flower alot faster. should i start it in the bucket or still do the cups??
yeah i got the picture of water, feed water, feed etc. how often you flush ? basically every night before light out, you just water dowm bucket with straight water, acting as flush every two night if it feed nute in the morning ?i have thrown freshly rooted clones straight into 5 gal hempy buckets with 100% per and they grew quite fast, i dont believe there is any reason at all to have to transplant anything. i also have always done a feed, water, feed, water, etc etc... if you dont plan on running straight water through your buckets every other feeding i would strongly recommend measuring the run off every so ofter because the fist hempy i ran i feed all the time and over a period of time the standing water in the bottom 2" was so strong it fried my plant after that i flushed every other feeding with ph'd water and no nutes. i like to feed every morning when the lights come on with a gal of nute water then right before the lights go out i like to throw another gal of straight ph'd water through it as it is nearly impossible to overwater when using 100% per, i have also done this with hydroton with good results.
yup i would feed every morning then basically flush every night, this just helped throw some of the nutes out the drain holes and dilute down the strength of the standing water, this worked well (got some pics here of a couple i have done). i wont be of much help to you about finished results as i used this style strictly for mothers although i did flower one bubba mom but had to chop early for other reasons (fist pic) i loved the ease of the hempys for moms cause it was just one res i didnt have to mess with (used to use DWC for moms).yeah i got the picture of water, feed water, feed etc. how often you flush ? basically every night before light out, you just water dowm bucket with straight water, acting as flush every two night if it feed nute in the morning ?
and another question : which is the best result to use perlite or hydroton ?
thanks.

also with the difference between hydroton/per i am currently doing one outdoor with hydroton and it is still vegging so again no finished results but it seems to be growing just like the rest so i would have to say they are about even, hydroton will be more expensive to start but you can re use it, with per i never re use it just get more.
sure I ll PM ya if i have some question, i appreciate it. thanksthanks man rep right back to you, i was using flora nova in those im now using the flora 3 part with my hydro system and loving it if you got any other ?'s i would be glad to help as much as possible. these simple systems work very well and if i wasnt running the system i have now this would be the way i would go for sure.
anytime mansure I ll PM ya if i have some question, i appreciate it. thanks
