Need some advice to improve my room setup and final yield ..

hi all,

i need some advice to improve my room setup and yield, my plan is to grow 2 plants at the time and get yield about 80-100g (possible from 2 plants?) fo rpersonal use for me & my wife.

at the moment we grow in Soil and things are going slowly... i want to speed things up a little if possible.. any advice will be great!

my room set up is as follow:

- 250w HPS sunmaster dual spectrum & 2x 45W CFL 6500k
- well ventilated, 26c-28c, 30% moisture, 6.5-7 ph water
- ive ordered Mylar to cover walls, should be here soon ..
- using mostly seed bag seeds from local smokes me & my wife have but willorder some feminized seeds for the next grow when I complete the setup
- BioBizz nutes


First i thought about building 2 large Deep CultureWater buckets instead using normal Soil method.. will this speed up the growing process ? Should i be aware of any disadvantage with DWC? Should I use the same nutes amount like Soil growing?

Light: is 250w ok for 2 plant set-up? we really don’t need more then 2 for our use.



Any advice for us to get the best results with our goal will be great, thanks in advance…

Things that you can use to speed things up are:
- Two grow spaces, one for vegging and one for budding. Make a mother out of one of your seedlings and then take clones from them to veg up and bud out. It might take a little longer to get this going but in the long run you are taking 2-5 weeks off the process by using clones. This method is by far the fastest method of repeatedly getting bud.
- A 400w would suit better for two plants. If you had two grow spaces, use the 250w to veg and the 400 to bud, otherwise if its just the single space and you are growing seedlings then the more light the faster plants will grow.
- 30% humidity is a little low for vegging but ok for budding. Plants will veg a little slower in lower humidity.
- The choice between DWC and soil to me is a personal choice. One demands a little more time and attention, you will need more equipment for constant measuring of pH and EC/PPMs, aquarium bubblers etc, and can give you quicker results, but to be honest, clones are where the real time saving is to be had.
- Good air outake. More new air coming through a grow space = increased co2 to your plants which equals more and faster growth.

thanks for the reply.. i wish we had more space for 2 grow rooms, even tents.. but our space is limited, the cloning method does sounds good and i bealive i could do that but maybe in the future.... so now we must stick with 1 grow process in the same room and try to achive the best yield untill next batch will be ready.
i do have time to spend with them and taking care of everything, still will the DWC will be no improvment?
atm the room having 2 fans getting clean air cooled at 26c from outside, ill also step up to 400w, thanks again for the advice.

So does any one else have experience with moving from Soil to DCW and can share experience ? ... One thing I don't understand with these buckets, are the roots sit directly in the water ? Wouldent be better to run a water pump to run water from above ? (considering a water pump add-on will only be few $$ more..)

DWC will give you explosive growth in veg, yes the roots work their way through the net cup and into the water which is being loaded with oxygen from the air stones. Flower time will stay the same, but in veg you will get huge growth with DWC. No a water pump is pointless in DWC. Once the roots start drinking water you are good to go, until then the bubbles splashing will do everything and you could top feed by hand if you are that paranoid. DWC is my favorite way to grow I just hate the maintenance you have to top off with fresh R/O PH water daily and keep your reservoir very cool by cool I mean 62 degrees - 68 degrees anything higher and you will have to add beneficial bacterias or " bennies"

thanks man, its getting a lot clear now, i dont worry about maintenace, i actualy love working my palnts and really excited to build my own DWC, my only concerns now is the water temperture you mentioned ... as i live in a warm place (but cooled), is there any device that keeps the water at the desire temp? how do you keep your temps at the right spot? (AC 24/7 ?)
also, wanted to ask you about nutes as im used to Soil feeding, should i stick with the same plan i use with soil ? (BioBizz online plan i found)

I would stick with soil if space is an issue. Order some fem seeds, and use a sog style grow, just pack in 1 gallon pots (if you want to get the most out of space). Or, get two big 5 gallon pots, but veg time will take forever to get a good yeild. The best you will get is .5gram/watt (from what ive read). \
Id say first thing would be to get a bigger light- if you can air cool it get a 400 or even 600 or 750 watt.... that will speed veg up as well

Be careful with AC's dont buy a single hose portable AC if you use Co2 those AC's pull air from the room too and will basically suck out all your Co2. Buy a dual hose portable AC or shell out a couple thousand bucks for a mini split AC. If these options are out of your price range than just monitor the water temp using frozen water bottles to cool the water to a 62 - 68 degrees. Check online or call Bio Bizz and see if they have a nutrient calculator for Hydro, oh yeah and use Reverse Osmosis water unless you have good water in your area.

good points man,
i understand you with the heat.. im in the middle of the desert as well, we get 45c & very dry air during summaer days .... our AC is working 24/7 (the world is getting warmer each year, i can actualy feel it)

ill have to look for that Igloo sport cooler, sounds like i could use that here..

if i could get .5 a watt, with 200w i should be fine, but i will upgrade my setup to 400w this week ... thanks pal
