what's causing this

plant has begun to get yellow spots in tops. Lower fan leaves yellowing and falling off.
same prob i'm having, its magnesium def/try epsom salts-if that dont work as it did'nt for me,then its a ph issue thats causing the mg lockout,i dont have a ph meter,so i'm trying to find out if low ph,high-ph,or both would cause this lockout.

yeah thats weird,if ur ph is good, and epsoms aint helped, you may have a slight n-def,if ur leaves are yellowing up still.i'm getting a soil ph meter, more accurate than h2o runoff i've heard.

I dont think the ph looks off on that plant. the leaves would either be turned down or twisted up. I bet it is some kind of defficiency. What do the reszt of the leaves look like?

your on the right track, it is nitrogen, also the Epsom salt(cal/mag) locks out Nitrogen if your not using it sparingly. so lighten up on the Epsom salt and add more nutes. heres an old post i did, it should be helpful to you. you have a big plant man good job!

dude that is what happens to the hungry leaves lol, this is N deficiency early-mid stage. its only on the lower leaves right? and the leaves getting little light are probably lime green, along with the rest of your plant... i see your pics now.

*if you use 1tbsp your getting a nute mix of 3-1-2, if you use double strength your getting a mix of 6-2-4... get it? you don't want to cross 25-25-25 ever, just take my word on that one hahaha. it causes lockout and burn and its just better to not press your luck.

personally i use the cheapest most balanced stuff i find:
-shultz rose food @3/4 strength 18-24-24 (at 3/4 strength its more like 13.5-18-18
-mg all purpose plant food @3/4 strength 24-8-16 (at 3/4 strength its more like 18-6-12)
-my personal favorite is using 3 parts shultz and 1 part mg: you get an almost perfectly balanced mix of 19.5-20-22

heres some reference pics:
no hate meant, nitrogen deficiency early stage -note the overall lime green color with lower leaves yellowing

healthy: -note its a bit darker than a punk rockers lime green Mohawk

nitrogen toxicity: -note its a bit darker than any green crayola crayon i've ever used
