A really stupid question, but i NEED to ask

id like to use my extractor fan...6 inch [ im upsizing ] but without ANY filter or pipe in the inlet side, because my exhaust runs to the top of my roof, and theres no way anyones ever gonna be up there, so smells are not an issue...

but im thinking of building my fan into a smallish soundproofed box, i used to compete in car audio, so i have tons of soundproofing, and its ideal for this kinda thing, then when the box is built i want to just finish it off with one of these....

Dont be misunderstood about the importance of odour control.

I used to vent up to my roof and on any given day i could smell weed in my street !!!!!!!!!

Now youve probably seen my setup (i think youve posted in my threads before) i vent into attic through a filter and have vented my attic more to cope with the extra humidity and temps, my attic has been pretty cool all the way through this latest HOT period we have been having!


NO SMELL remember??? Its one of the golden rules, NO SMELL, NO TELL, NO SELL.

lol, thats why i said it had already been answered, things have progressed since, im now going to use a 6 inch fan in my home made sound proof box, run it right up to the roof and just connect it to my lamp hood when i get it, and suck air out the room that way.

when i say up to the roof, i mean out of the chimney....its right up the top of a 3 storey house.

later tonight im adding a false floor with a 120 sqm3 pumping cool fresh air into the room

How close are your neighbours?

Regardless of whether your are in a 3 storey house or not if your neighbours are close they will smell it.

I live on a hill and could smell it near the bottom!

IF you think being up 3 storeys is adaquate enough then go for it, but i bet in a few weeks we'll be seeing you create a thread saying "needed to add a filter could smell it down my street" lol.

Seriously my friend dont count it out as a definate possibility!

Seems like everytime I've deceided I was going to get something and put it in if I have to later you end up putting it in later. Because why? If you had to ask yourself the previous question then you yes you should of done it! Not to mention everytime I have to go back and do something I should have done in the first place it is twice as hard and twice as frustrating and 3 times as costly :)
