Hopsnmalt's 2011 Grow

Good Sunday TMB,
Yeah the GDP was a gift from a friend to replace an early Hermie. It looked to be in flower (club clone) when it was given to me.
I knew then it wasn't going to be a biggun but I think it will be a decent plant.... maybe a 4-6 oz'er? I keep thinning the middle out trying to make it stretch a little....1 month of veg left, it will probably be O.K.
I'm livin' and learnin', still.
Double's quote was perfect, One of my top five favorite films.
"Jed's dead"

I'm off on a vacation for ten+ days, a little nervous about the extended family ;) but a very high quality friend is going to babysit so I can enjoy the trip. Seeing growth after a 12 day absence will be pretty exciting. Gave all the girls a full strength manure tea on Saturday so it should be impressive. They will get the same on the 15th. Looking forward to checking everyone's grow upon my return.

Make the best of your summertime everyone,

Ahh, yes. Back from vacation and my good friend did a great job caring for the girls!
Hope everyone is as happy with their grow as I am, a couple minor setbacks so far but nothing to bitch about:)
12 days away, then seeing the garden put a big smile on my face. A walk through the girls with a couple of beers and then back to work. They went 12 days without a feeding, so after giving them a thorough hand watering, I made up a 60 gallon batch of Manure/compost tea on Friday and gave them 2 to 5 gallons each on Sunday, depending on size. Looks like a few will start to bloom soon so this may be the next to last veg formula feeding.
Had a few broken branches that I was able to tie, strap or brace up. One very large one, though was about 80% torn through, so I lopped her off and got about 20 nice cuttings for a friend who needs some starts for an indoor run. On a smaller plant, I would have tried to save it but she's one of the big durbans so I focused my effort elsewhere. Here she is now after losing the fourth branch off the same side... that's 4' wire around her, shes almost 6-1/2' tall now

My strange attempt at scrogging is working ok so far, although I may have to put up another screen soon if they continue to grow this fast. Does anyone know where to get a large roll of 6x6 plastic netting?

The White Siberians were slow at first, but have nearly made up for it in the last couple of weeks. They seem to take more food than the others

The Big Blue widow has an entire roll of vinyl tape holding the branches up to the main stem to keep them from breaking. It now has a 7' dia x 7' high wire cage around it. Should have done that 3 weeks ago. Here she is right before the cage with her caretaker. I'm 6' 4"

And just for fun, here's the durban that I caged early and has had no broken branches at all. Other than that, you can't tell them apart.

Have a great week all and thanks for stopping in.
Peace,

Lookin' great hops!! That Blue Widow, if it's anything like my pheno, is a monster. I have 1 in my indoor that is a fat budded joker for sure. I'm glad to see an outdoor version of it so I get to see it OD. I planted it just foolin' around, planted it, it was a freebie on an attitude order and it turned out to be a monster so I ran it again and the clone is even fatter!! Keep up the awesome work!!

Thanks Wheezer.
Just got some bum news.
Had a fellow grower that had a DJ Blueberry male he was gonna give me, I called him after vacation - he got paranoid and buried it, it was about to bust.
Funk, I had a couple girls I wanted to rub him on; mostly the blue widow - shorter pheno. Oh well.

Also Have 3 Acapulco Gold seedlings growing that I got from a dude who literally got the seeds from a farm outside acapulco 3 years ago, claimed to be AG. Don't know for sure of course but they are Sativa all the way...almost funny how tall, lanky and thin leaved they are. Bum is (?) they are all girls. Funny when you want girls you get 40% boys, when you want a boy you can't get one to save your ass.
Now I need to decide which pollen to hit the biggest one with.
I'll post a pic of them if anyone is into it....

Peace

Had a moderate family crisis last week and focused on the family.
During that, my girls missed a feeding - not good but pales in comparison to the family issue. Good thing I gave them a double dose of tea the week before. One more veg tea for most, maybe two for a few late ones, we'll see. Also missed a BT spray, I'll hit em hard on Wed.

Had an auto at home that got hammered by worms, picked 11 off one 16" auto Blueberry. Lost 30% what a bitch, it needed another week.

Don't be lax on your sprays, peeps. It's the shits to find bud laying on the ground a week before harvest. I'm gonna slip it on into overdrive...:)

Been looking for a bulk roll of nylon trellis/netting, unsuccessfully. Might have to use wire - a lot harder to work with.

As far as the big girls, I lost 1 large branch that had cracked two weeks ago that I tried to repair. It's getting heavier and slid off the block I put under it and broke the vinyl tape. The wind probably helped. Not bad, only 1 in a week. Better than the week before, I'm learning how to grow big plants the hard way.
Still having a great time at it though.

Fresh pics later in the week. I'll throw in a pic or two of the Acapulco gold(?) tomorrow. Just beautiful, hope the product is as nice as the plant.

Enjoy the week people.
Peace,
