First grow, dude I know told me to get a 5 gallon bucket so I did...Germinated seed, and planted in bucket...this is what it looks like after 10 days....Did I screw up by putting it in a 5 gallon pale ?

Should I let it grow?

Or, should I dig it up, and put it in something smaller? lol thanks :dunce:

you probably wont get the biggest and most expansive root system, but it'll work, just watch your waterings.

Let it grow. Your roots are probably too entangled throughout the soil to try to dig it up.

Did you drill holes in the bottom of the bucket for drainage?

make sure you drill or poke a lot of holes in the bottom of that 5gal. otherwise you will be fucked. you need drainage, bro. that thing is still a minute seedling. 3 weeks and you got a hepher... 5 gal is definitely enough to grow some quality cannabis with the know-how... go get some mychorrizae powder

@ 10 days, if there are no nutes in the soil already, it should be safe to add a small amount of nutes, maybe 1/4 strength.

By the looks of pic #1, just to the right of the plant, looks like a little nute capsule that come in pre-nuted soils.

Gary, you're right...This noob here used Scott's Premiuim Potting Soil - bag says it has nutrients in it for up to 4 months....think I should still add some nutes still ?

I was going to guess MG moisture control. Same company.

Regardless of what people say, MG and Scotts do grow weed, and does a decent job of it. Though not the best choice out there.

The nute levels in there are pretty minute. It wont feed mj for 4 months, what I did when I used MG, was wait until the plants looked hungry, then added a little nutes in with the waterings.

So, in your case, I would wait for a little while before adding nutes. There are others that know way more about MG than I do and can point you in a better direction than I can. I know a guy, I'll see if he can't chime in and add his 2c.

I have used MG before and I only had to add nutes towards the very end. you just have to watch how much your watering your plant because of the water release nutes in the soil, especially with the moisture control stuff because of the water absorbing crystals in the soil that retain water for a long time.

cool, so you guys think this plant will eventually grow to a somewhat normal size? maybe it will just take a little longer or something ?

ya the main thing is to make sure you give it like a 5 in diameter circle of watered area around the plant so the roots crawl nicley the bigger the plant gets the wider the circle im sure you would have caught this anyway.

also i would wait for nutes till the girl gets about 5 inches tall you'll know its small feeder roots have developed enough when it has about four true branches, and definitley at half strength when your start

Mychorrizae What is that? what does it do? and where do i get it ? thanks
Mychorrizae is a root zone "enhancer" if you will. Greek for "Fungus Root" Mychorrizae are a collection of different fungus spores and bacteria that live in your root zone of your plant providing several different benefits.

Some of these benefits include, but are not limited to:

  • Higher absorption capacity for water and nutrients
  • Increases access to phosphor from nutrients and media
  • More resistance to disease
There are many more benefits, but these are some of the big ones.

As far as what products have these Mychorrizae, here are few of the big ones.

Great White by Plant Success (powder)
Mycro Crazy by Humboldt County's Own (powder)
Bush Doctor Root Drench by Fox Farm (liquid)

There are more, but these are some of the popular and readily available ones from many hydroponic stores.

depending on what soil your using you shouldn't even need to feed your plant until you get into flowering. There is plenty of soil for your roots to expand into and if you are using soil that has any sort of nutes in it, as the roots expand they will dig into soil that still has nutes in it.

Yea I drilled a boatload of them
One thing to consider (if you didn't already do this) for bucket grows like this is to put an inch or so of hydroton or rocks on the bottom of the bucket to increase the drainage. Even with the holes, if it is soil all the way to the bottom, it can hold water fairly well without letting it drain properly.
