Do any of you all ninjam? If not you should, bust out the usb audio interfaces and the axes and lets go! You'll wanna get reaper, its not really free but fully functional with a slight nag screen at start up but other than that good stuff, it has a ninjam plugin, lets go!

Is it online jamming like you can draw together on iScribble?

That sounds great, but my internet on the computer never works...

Jamming over skype also seems like a good idea.

I would totally do it- I play 5 instruments at the moment...

Its impossible to jam in realtime over the internet but with this ninjam program which uses "faketime" it makes it seem like its happening in realtime.
But yes to answer your question, and reaper is a very very nice multitracking software much like .......jesus I can't remember wtf it was called, adobe audition maybe.

Jamming over skype would never work. The lag in response time would screw up the whole rhythm.

I play guitar, bass, piano, a little trumpet, and I've been wanting to learn how to play cello or violin.

I guess so... It's nice to be serenaded though. I had a singalong with 2 friends on Skype and another two on speakerphone once and it was great ^^

Mah violin:

I'd be down for making some music Postal Service style. Basically recording a layer of the music, sending off the raw version to someone else and letting them add a layer, then just sending back and forth until we're done.

I'm also down for recording something on video, then having someone add a piece in their video, then stitching the videos together to create a mash up. Would be pretty cool to get a little RIU soundtrack going on here.

You really should try ninjam and reaper, Reaper is kickass and so is the ninjam plug.

Do they have versions Mac OS X?

edit: never mind just saw they do. I'll have to really wait until I get another electric, or at least an acoustic/electric. I also want to buy a nice firewire interface because I've been dying to put some tracks together.

What type of music do you play? Myself I play a little of everything from Metal to Jazz to Punk to Coffee House/Jam style shit.

I believe so by now, they were working on that like 3 years or so ago. Yes I'm seeing a mac version.... http://www.reaper.fm/
I play a little bass and guitar, well actually they're standard size! but seriously I play a rock blues type style , I haven't been playing much since I got my card ( I devote too much time to the grow, not to mention money).

Yeah but I'm interested in something studio quality. I still have a killer pair of monitors that cost me an arm and a leg, back when I was touring with my first band. I want something preferably FireWire 800. I want an external mixer, an interface with built in phantom power, and some rack gear and I'll be happy as a clam.

I might be interested in this... I don't have an interface but I have a good preamp I can run into pc and it'll sound good. So if you could hook me up with your reaper and ninjam plugin for it I'd be down for that. Play guitar btw...
