My 1st grow

bongsmilieHey fellow puffers, been puffing now for 16yrs and decided its about time i started my own little production....

I chose to grow some White Widow from seed, got 3 plants growing in 20L aero pots(or pots with the multi holes covering the outer walls) with all mix soil and perlite...50/50 mix.

Using GHE Bio-Sevia Grow and Bloom.

250w HPS for veg and 600w HPS for flowering. Running 2 fans but just the 1 when in darkness.

I let them veg for 4 weeks and then switched to flower which ive heard is too long in veg but not really sure. They will be 2 weeks in flower by the end of tomorrow.

So far so good i think,my babies are currently approx 50-60" tall and flowering is well under way.

So thats the basics i think but im struggling to determine the sex of my plants and its getting to a critical stage i think if ive not alreay went past that stage.

Ive looked through the different guides to determining the sex of the plants but i dont have a clue really of what im looking for as some of the nodes are showing little sword shaped growths with double white pistils protruding which i think is female but 1 of the plants is harder to tell. This plant has the femlae characteristics with the white pistils to the top of the plant and maybe 2 feet down it but below that its just the sword shaped things for now!!!!

Any help with this would be grateful but im not very well versed on it all so can any help be put in dumbass terms haha :)

Peace Out!!!:eyesmoke::eyesmoke::eyesmoke:

Also need advice on the final stages of flower.....heard of a few different ways to do it

Im going to leave in flower for 7 weeks....

8th week - just water and no nutes, cut the lights to 8hrs on and 16 off

9th week - no water or nutes and 24hr darkness

Does this force the plants to draw all the strength from the leaves etc and draw it into the head to protect it which in turn produces a stronger bud?

Hey, it definitely is bro. You should get at least 2 ounces off each plant. Got any pics? BTW 4 weeks of veg is not too long, it's just right. :peace:

No, the buds would normally get those minerals from the soil, but since you stop giving them nutes, they start using the minerals in the fan leaves. Check out this thread... https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/409622-truth-about-flushing.html

Had a quick scan through there but ill have a more in depth look at it tomorrow....what would you personally do if it was your grow sir?

EDIT....just read 'Bamfrivets' thread and the 2 week flush is a myth :) well thats another one marked off the list

What about the effects of total darkness for the final week? anybody got pointers on this

Ok so im doing plenty of research here on the forums by reading threads and going to links to other info.....im trying to find the best watering cycle for my babies....this is kinda the circumstances...

3 white whidows in 20L air pot planters, the girls have been thru 4 weeks of veg and today completes their 2nd week of flower. They stand between 48"-56" tall from soil to top cola....pot heigt included 68" tall.

Ok so currently im giving them 1ml of feed in 1L of water at lights on time, then at lights off time im giving them between 500ml and 1L of just water depending on soil moisture.....ive read allsorts of different feed cycles on here....some say feed the plant once a week, some say twice and some say daily.....some say water till it runs out and then leave till its dry usually 2 or 3 days....its getting a tad confusing in which way too turn as i respect many opinions on here.....just wondering if mines sounds ok as my plants look fit and healthy some fan leaves are the size of the palm of my hand with very little or no clolouring to the tips of the leaves for the top 2/3rds of the plants....heads showing and budding progressively....all in all rather happy and somewhat surprised so far by how its gone

Suppose its all done to each individuals preference but its always good to get some pointers when starting something new

Shall post some pics today too give yous a better idea of how they are looking so i can get a better assessment as details are all and well but the real proof is in the aesthetics of the girls :)

All help and comments welcome and appreciated

To be honest, you gonna need to judge it off your plants, i water when it looks like my plants need it. Put your finger an inch in the soil, if its dry, water, if the surface looks day water, 2 - 4 days is my average. But now there getting bigger they take more water so its 1 - 2 days. Judge it on your plant and what ever works for you and the plant, do that.

Yeah thats what ive done till now but should i water/feed them till the whole soil base is wet thru and then wait till it goes dry or is it just as effective to do it on a routine like im doing? just incase what im doing is majorly wrong

If there growing, what ever your doing isn't wrong. I don't know to be honest, i'm a first time grower. Can't imagine there's to much difference

It varies because of climate and growing conditions, that's why there's no standard time frame for watering. hot and dry, cool and humid, 5 gallon buckets, 6" pots... best way to do it IMHO is by weight. I soak my soil completely with a good amount of runoff, and let it get light but not bone dry before watering again.
