So i started with a really bad set up crap lights not enough of them for 1 plant let alone the 9 i was trying to grow

so today i cleared one of my store cupboards out and lined it with emergency blankets (HIGHLY REFLECTIVE) and added in in total 11 lighting fixtures added a small fan

cupboard dimensions are 1ft.5"/2ft.4" by 10ft high
i can get temps up to a top temp of 89.4 and as low as 65.6 and 70% humidity

i have
4x20w
2x30w
4x24w
1x23w
altogether putting out just over 10,000 lumen all are 2700k
i know i should be using 6500k but its hard to get them bulbs where i am with out looking odd hahaha

IMG00149-20110531-1127.jpgIMG00167-20110612-0131.jpgIMG00155-20110608-1727.jpgIMG00154-20110608-1727.jpgIMG00168-20110612-0132.jpgIMG00166-20110612-0131.jpgIMG00165-20110612-0131.jpgIMG00147-20110531-1126.jpgIMG00143-20110531-1125.jpgIMG00148-20110531-1126.jpg

i have a few question to ask

as the cupboard is enclosed im going to have to put an intake in from the loft how powerful would the fan need to be as i have a 2" computer fan i have and put it into some ducting and its sucking in a lot of air and blowing it out at a nice pace

will i need to as co2 or would the air from the loft be enough

i have only 4 out of the 9 plants left now
a white widow
a master kush
a white skunk
a blueberry something or other
all regular

any info or advice is much appreciated

Keep on rolling dudes Nirto

I'm not an expert by any means and you'll probably want to wait for a more experienced member to respond. However I've gotten the impression from what I have read that CO2 is more for growers that are already “pushing the limits” of their plants. I also don't see any reason why the air coming in from the loft wouldn't be enough, especially if you can open a window once in awhile.

I could be completely wrong and if I am I have no doubt some other member will chime in to correct me.

Emergency blankets are a risky business my friend. They can cause burns on your plant, you might as well spend a good $50 on high quality mylar or Black and white Panda film. In my opinion, those "emergency blankets" are just too much of a gimmick. Invest your money correctly and I'm sure you will have great plants in the future.

Also, you don't want the tip of those bulbs to face the plant, lumens/light actually travels sideways of the coils in ANY cfl bulb. I'm also noticing air pockets in your "emergecy blanket" type of gimmick you have going on there, which it probably the worst thing you can do for your plants. Is that Duct tape on the outer layers of the emergency blanket as well?? That is a horrible idea. You must, YOU MUST apply non-toxic glue or double sided tape on the BACKSIDE of the Mylar or panda sheet, which sticks to the surface, do not tape them together like its a kindergarten project. You should know, your effort is reflected in your plant! So make your you give it love and care, not just throw in some .99 cent cheap blankets. Ok, good luck my friend.

emergency blankets r made of mylar so there fine and from what i have seen a lot of people use them on here an from what i have seen and i am aware of that is only tin foil as the emergency blankets are 45% polythene and 55% mylar

them cfl's are the old set up im am now using 4 6500k 35w T5's now

and there is not ducktape in there what so ever i dont know where your seeing that the white tape style stuff is draft exclusion tape or light leaks

Do a cubic foot calculation on your cabinet. You want the air in the grow space to be replaced 100% AT MINIMUM under 3 minutes. That's a starting point. You really want how ever big a fan it takes to get your temps and humidity where you want them. CO2 systems are best run in 100% sealed grow area. In a cabinet? I would look into some of the DIY options located on this website.

well the T5's arnt giving that much heat off really and the humidity stays steady at about 50/55% the temps are steady at 77 degrees
i have a cooker hood fan that comes on every 30 mins to bring fresh air in and take the stale air out this is my 1st grow at the moment so im looking at a co2 system for my next grow as im building a 16ft by 16ft grow space in my loft

You are good to go for ventilation then. Just make sure you keep the air circulated as the plants get bigger and create a canopy.

Really get rid of the cheap $1 crap, they create unnecessary heat causing the grow room to get real hot over 90Deg F at times. Especially with a small, gimmicky setup like yours, you need to consider your ventilation seriously if your going to use those highly reflective, yet HIGHLY heat containing $1 blankets. Really, you can't afford Panda film or Mylar? Emergency blankets... really... How old are you... 20?

Hes right, mylar is crap. No expericened grower will use this. Either panda film or white flat paint.

Oi i dont know how you are using that little of light to grow 9 plants......

I hope to hell if you are building another much larger grow room you are going to do it correctly and use HID lighting and good ventilation.

Why is everyone clowning on this guy? Not everyone can afford to run a multiple HID set up in a separate room with all the bell and whistles. Sometimes people have to get by on what they have. As long as his expectations are reasonable who cares what lights he has?

that just shows the intelligence level of them too over mylar like because professional growers and commercial growers use it so...

mr2tonman is just un happy his cfl's bulbs useless and so is having a hissy fit at me now hahaha

btw wtf has age go to do with anything? just because i dont go spending like £200 on a HID light means im young? well fuck me!
