any1 use dehumidifier h20 for watering?

honestly, I wouldnt see why it would hurt, obviously have to adjust the PH if it is at 8, but its a pure form of water. clean out the holding tub first, and if you need to filter the water through a screen of sorts.

I sometimes use dehumidifier water because I have well water that gets ran through a softener. It beats soft water because of its added salts, and sometimes I don't feel like filling a bucket from the outdoor hose or bathtub which is outside the softeners water line.

The only thing I've ever heard of as a concern is the way that dehumidifiers gather water. From what I read, they use copper coils and other metals to condense the water out of the air. The concern is that trace amounts of these metals can be transferred in the water.

In fish, I read it was causing mutations for people that used the water in their tanks. I read no posts on it being harmful to plants directly, but none of those talked about fruiting plants to be used in human consumption.

I have a friend that uses his dehumidifier water. Every morning he dumps the tank into his nute tank. Of course tops it off with his tap water too. I don't think it will hurt unless its old and moldy.

don't understand how your ph would be above 7 unless you've got chalk or drywall dust contaminating it
anyways it's safe to use

hey thnx for the replies guys...med maker i like ur logic and would + rep u if i only knew how cause mine does use copper coil but since its new thats probly y the ppm of the water is low...and yes the room is full of drywall and plywood which is probly raising the ph...i also like the "would u drink it logic" but then again i wouldnt drink rain water but plants love that shit lol... i might try it out tho cause in my short growing experience im finding out m.j. is a tough plant and realy wants to grow and everything doesnt need to be totaly perfect for it to prosper...iill let u kno how it goes...

I got a 50pint dehumidifier in my flower room. Gotta hand dump it 1-2x a day lost my drain hose :/ i always top off the lady's with that water for a little over 2 years now never had any problems
