Harvesting without killing the plants

I was wondering if it was possible to trim just the buds off the plant then throw it back into 18/6 veg to keep it alive. Would that work? Would I lose potency? I don't really want to kill the plants I have in flower right now (rare strains) I saw a thread on this a while backhttps://www.rollitup.org/harvesting-curing/382184-reveg-after-flower-harvest.html#post4872378 and planned to chop 3/4 of the plants off then put them into veg to regrow. Anyone ever tried this? :bigjoint:

it works, you just have to make sure you leave some fan leafs on. It takes a couple weeks for the plant to revert back to vegging though.

doing it right now, been harvesting for about 4 weeks on three different plants and the plants are doing just fine, the quality seems fine so far.

Next time make a mother plant, and clone it, clone it again, and clone it again and again :) Re-vegging a plant really is not a good idea, but it can be done.

Peace out

bcuz cannabis plants are annuals and in nature they only reproduce once....... so ur creating an unnatural phase for the plant................. that just my 2cents

it just takes time to re-veg it, it doesn't hurt the plant or give you less of a yield with the next grow. The plus side is that it takes 2 weeks or so for it to start to re-veg, but it's already at an adult plants size, so you just have to cut it down to size and let it grow some new stuff. It would actually probably only save you maybe a week or two if any. But if you don't have any more seeds or clones then it's a nice way to keep the genetics you like.

The best thing about revegging is that the root structure is already in place. You have fully developed root structure as opposed to cloning where you would need several months to build it to that level. I have plants that have been revegged several times.

its a double harvest. take the top half of the plant ,water and feed them, throw them back to veg, and 3 weeks later flower again. You wont match the first harvest but it will beef up the lower buds.

Besides the fact that you are putting your plant through extra stress you are restarting a natural process that is not meant to be restarted.
kind of ironic someone with the name "biologically incorrect" is against re-vegging lol. Anyway, if you harvest in stages instead of all at once it doesn't put more stress on your plant than transplanting them or trimming up some leafs. Just harvest over the course of a week, take a couple smaller branches or one big one a day. Start at the top and work your way down. You could even wait to harvest the last of the bottom stuff when you put them back into veg.

Yes, once you harvest your plant it will die. You can do what is called a second harvest, where you only cut off the main buds and then let the other smaller buds mature for a few weeks (under the same flowering conditions, not changing back to veg & then changing back to flowering). Re-vegging in my opinion is a waste of time & valuable space. Make clones, and you will be very happy with the results.

Peace out

So what you are saying is don't reveg it because it causes extra stress. Just kill it? HHHHHmmmmmmmmmmm

clones are cool if you have the resources to have a flowering area and a vegging area. or a flower/veg area and an area for your mother to veg to take clones off of. Otherwise, he still runs into the problem of not having any thing to go off of once he harvests. if he re-vegs then he can keep the same plant going, much like you do with a mother.

This is very true. If you do not have the space, you must do what you have to do.

i think he means it is more logical to fully harvest a plant and have clones from them before. (Biologically Incorrect) Probably cuz it wastes more time to put a plant into veg for how many weeks and switch to 12 12 for another full bloom cycle

this is true, but in the first post it is mentioned that he has rare strains, he probably doesn't have seeds left and didn't plan ahead and make clones. He wants to get a bag or two of buds from the plants that he still has after the initial harvest. because he obviously likes these rare strains.

my question would be: in order to keep this strain going, could he take cuttings from it after it REvegged for a few extra WEEKS?

Of course you can take a clone from it when you put it back to veg. You can take a clone from it now in flowering, it just takes longer to root. If you are going to re-veg it for a couple weeks until it starts to grow again and take clones.... why not just keep it going so you can continue to take clones and you can re-flower it when you flower to clones.
