These plants are both in a mix of 1/3 each-peat/perlite/worm castings. The larger plants has only received 8.5pH/260ppm well water. The smaller plant a tea 4.6pH made from Epsomas Garden-Tone twice. I just do not see the lockout/up most of you talk about.

My plants are as healthy and vigorous any. I agree plants do have deficiencies from time to time. But within this forum 99% of the time when someone asks about a minor magnesium, nitrogen, calcium deficiency the first things out of most mouths are, 'flush, whats your runoff pH, lockup/out'. Which probaly 95% of the time is wrong. Now the rare zinc/iron deficiencies could be pH, but most likely in my opinion too much calcium. R/O water and CalMag in the hands of novice growers breeds issues. And starts a chain of events that ultimately has the grower running in circles. All the while the plant is suffering. Again I will say look at the chart thats been around the world a million times. On the soil side those lines are pretty damn bold from 6-8. Ever think maybe you just need to feed them a bit more of this or that, hell no, its MJ, its special, couldnt be that easy. Yet it really is. I am not on this forum to make friends or enemies, just to try and intercede in the misdirection that is so rampit here.
Just by posting the pole I did at the start sparks assumptions and speculation. All the while I was just sharing my opinion, a bit cocky yes, but still sharing solid information gained from years of cultivation. I have probally been grow plants, MJ included, longer than most here have been alive. Its your choice if you want to listen or not. At least some decent debate has come about when it comes to water. Its something we all need to be paying closer attention too...the world is changing and there ae many little things we each can do that will make a difference down the road.

This very chart you all seem to follow. Read closely at the bottom of the chart. On the left (pH below 5.5 cuts primary nutes) of saturated soil that is. On the right (pH above 5.5 cuts phosphorous & manganese) yet most hydro folks preach 5.8 being optimum. Saturated soiless mediums also. How many of you know the difference between a soiless/soil medium when growing in containers? Whats in your pots? Mineralized soil vs peat based mediums vs coco? In my opinion the numbers you all toss about are nothing more than products of the internet. That and nutrient companies making sure to keep you caught up in all the hype.
You all are welcome to debate this all you want. I am just going to start a new grow and share the info. Legitimate posts and questions will pretty much all I respond too from here out.

I dont use Cal/Mag, I think it sucks, and it will hurt you more than help you.

I use nutes that have all the macro and micro you need. R/O water is the shit.

Tap or well doesn't do a thing to help.

Heres the medium I have chosen, got it at my local Meijer store. Flip and read even the Miricle Grow bags and decided on this one. If you want to call foul, call it now or hold you peace. Also put along side an original Trivial Pursuit game. Someone should come up with a pH Pursuit game!

I found it pretty ironic to find both some hype and good ingredients involved.

And dont forget the caution, that one makes me rotfal...

Never grown in organic potting soil, but I hear PH doesn't matter in it, so you may be okay:) But you might end up with small airy buds like in your 1st post.

Try doing your method in Sunshine mix #4 and show us how it goes;)

Airy and frosty, just the way I like them after the first month of flower.

Sunshine mix or this mix, I can do it. But I am taking it you need to do something special when growing in Sunshine mix #4?

I figured your plants weren't done, I was just givin ya shit;)

Nothing special in Sunshine Mix, just use good water and good nutes, and PH will be right where you need it.

I just dont think it is a good idea to tell people you can have a PH of 8 and that is fine to grow marijuana.

Cal/mag, fucked up water, and high PH fucks plants up, I have seen it happen.

8 is certainly at the high side of the scale and at the edge of the range. Just like 6 is on the low side. But there is an alot of very productive territory between those two numbers.......

I love to feed at a PH of 6 in Sunshine #4, I think with the lime buffer in the mix, it puts it in the low 6's right where you want it for max nute uptake.

The lime in the mix only lasts 6 weeks, so you need to allow for that by transplanting and/or saving a few inches in your pot to top off with fresh soil when needed.

Popped 6 C99 beans directly into the Market Fresh soil, in cups, nothing added. I probaly will add some worm castings and a bit of Garden-Tone to the mix when it comes transplant time. Other than that just water and a drink of tea from time too time......

Well I see in another thread Kinggrow1 has finally began to realize that runoff pH is not all its cracked up too be. 1 down, 999,999,999 more too go.
And I am going to start a regular grow journal for those interested in following a blunt, to the point old hippy farmer. I will post a link in a day or so once its started....

pH in general is so over rated, soil/soiless and hydro. Yes in hydro the range is a bit narrower, yet still pretty forgiving. And in container growing you have got to be kidding me! Talk about broadband. I have been a part of a few threads since joining the forum. Lime, peat, 18/6 vs 24/0 yada, yada come to mind. Heres what my garden looks like. No pH, EC or PPM meters. Drops and an occasional home water test are about it, along with some Epsoma products. Stay tuned and 'Watch how I do It' start to finish...:dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce::dunce:

You can't be serious, are you? If you consider Ph to over rated, you are a joke of a grower. You are setting a LIVING environment for these LIVING plants, don't make it a fucking hack sack and put some effort towards your work. You can find extra information all over the internet about how to understand and balance Ph if you can't understand how it works... Your plants look weak and frail, make sure your soil is Balanced. If you disregard Ph, you will have terrible tasting plants. Give it some effort! Don't just pray and expect bud to grow out, you have to Take care of it man....

Can we see your plants?

I'm guessin they are bomb since the OP's are weak and frail.

NOT MANY OR EVEN CLOSE HAS UNDERSTOOD WHAT THE OP IS TRYING TO GET ACROSS.

Your ph IS important!Peeps fucin with it consistently to make sure it says EXACTLY what they feel it should be IS NOT!

It's a fucin weed people........

My favorite part of his post was 'disregard pH and you will have terrible tasting plants'. Now thats really reaching......And I am glad you get what I am trying to get across Dank. Keep em green pal......

And the "make sure your soil is balanced" quote.....

IF THE SOIL IS BALANCED PH SHOULD NOT EVEN BE IN THE THOUGHT PROCESS DURING THE GROW.

I have a plant in straight promix hp with NOTHING in it.FEEDS include grow big, tiger bloom, big bloom and magical from technaflora.I use my well and rain water. No problem. But i prefer my amended soils more vs bottle growing.I don't own a ph pen.I do have a dusty GH liquid kit.....but have not felt the need to attempt to use it.

You got it pal. I myself have much better things to do than chase and stress over a bunch of numbers(referring to runoff pH)that mean dick anyways. If growers would spend the time looking at and reading their plants they spend reading meters they would learn much more and be way better off........

When it comes right down to it this is opinion vs science. You guys may have successful grows but you will never achieve the optimal yield or potency. This is not up for arguement, science > opinion when it comes down to it. Unsubscribed.

I would thank you for your Opinion...but I have a feeling it is very uneducated and lacks practical experience. So instead I offer this advice. Dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out....

I never ph .... Active soil and 500 ppm well water at 7.6 but for hydro I fill with r/o water and protect silica to lock in the ph
