Hydroponic Water Tempatures?

The easiest solution is your probably bringing it in from outside...

take a slab of rockwool soak it in only water, take another and soak it in nute solution. add light , the only one that will turn green is the one with nutes

And isn't the only purpose of a chiller in aero is to ward off algae....that makes me rethink there usefulness at all (I've always opposed them for the most part)

chillers are more so for dwc, i have never had a need for one with areo.

Hmm...maybe the brand of nutes?....I mean one of my nutes is organic and it doesn't even cause algae growth...I've never had to to deal with a single issue in my rez (knock on wood). But I do remember way back when, when I first started with aero, and I saw everyone talking about the need for a chiller if your temps got over 65...that scared me shitless, cause I couldn't get mine under 75, let alone 65...I tried it anyway, and NO problems yet. So I think people who suggests a chiller (or RO water for that point), are seriously over complicating things. Granted there is a time and a place for both, but to just blindly suggest them like a lot of people on here do, well, it is just crazy to me.

I'm sure you remember Earl...the guy that many on rollitup regarded as the aero "genius"? He blindly suggested that a chiller was a requirement for growing aero...

if i had to take aero advice it would be from stinkbud, just like in an aero tank there is no reason for an airstone, the roots get plenty of oxygen if done right.

Very true...it is pointless. I suppose the only benefit would come from disrupting the water when the pump isn't on, which may prevent some algae in an otherwise stagnant tank.

your taking a lot more out than cal mag.

also everyone water is different

some 100ppm

some 500ppm

and isnt hydro about precision.

which is why we remove and add so we can control.

I'm using a water chiller for the first time in my current F.A.G. and since the chiller I got is so small I had to use a 5 gal bucket, insulated with reflectx, to get my reservoir temps down.
now my temps jump between 60 and 70 because it's such a small water volume and I have so many pumps on a recycle timer
IMHO: you don't really need one for aero unless you plan to grow bigger plants. I noticed in my last grows that the bigger rootballs looked a little suffocated so some more ppm of O2 would have been helpful. I'm about to find that out. If you're doing any kind of rez cooling you need to insulate it first.

Some food for thought is that I've heard soil growers (demonstrathus, no idea how to spell it but he spends time on NW growers dot net) talk about huge yield gains from keeping the roots warm at night. The poster made a very convincing case based on temp/metabolism and the flow of carbs in the plant.
