Get over yourself.....

They taught you all about what is being talked about here?Growing plants with reflective material?
I do not believe you were taught these things in physics.....blah blah blah
What exactly have I said that you disagree with? or is being argumentative just part of your personality ? Of course school doesnt teach the cultivation of cannabis but having an intellect enables you utilize whats taught for everyday life. Its called Intelligence, try it for yourself sometime.

I have enough intelligence to see by all but 1 of your posts in this thread that you.....are full or yourself and a bit arrogant.

Look at your first post....you have the ability to answer your own ?'s

Are you that smart that your dumb?

That's my girlfriends brothers prob too,so i understand.

And yes....it's a personality thing. It's the internet though,so you should be smart enough to not let it bother you.

Ok... I confess I can come across as both arrogant and full of myself. When you know what youre talking about its hard to avoid the temptation to indulge (maybe I should get some help with that)..lol
Still doesnt make me wrong though.
Im not bothered with your comments, I welcome the opportunity to hone my debating skills and thank you in participating.

Mirrors absorb light where flat white reflects 95% of the light.

They can't absorb it all though. Ever look at the sun in your rear view mirrior, that shit is bright cuz' it's reflecting the sun back. I have learned roughly from this thread though that certain vital spectrum's of light are not reflected hence making it not as good as materials that reflect these spectrum's closer to their full intensity.

I dont want to be a pedant but again, technically youre not precisely correct. IMHO. Both the paint AND the silicon in the glass is absorbing (and reflecting) the UV. The levels of reflection or absorbing of the UV will be dependent on the specific atomic structure of any said material.... blah blah blah
Of course no surface is 100% reflective. The periodic table says it's just not possible, even if we had the means to achieve perfect purity and flatness. You fucking pedant. ;]

You may know that no surface is 100 % but do you speak for everyone who visits the forum. It seems to me others are arguing that it is.

Also, please refer me to the part of the periodic table that explains the reflective properties of materials. As far as I know the periodic table concerns itself with describing the elements atomic weight and shorthand notation.etc ..... where does it say "its just not possible"? WHERE? What has the periodic table got to do with this thread? EXPLAIN.... If you cant explain what you mean then YOUR statement is not pedantic but idiotic.

Also, the effing and jeffing is totally unnecessary.

haha ..... come to think about it where does it even mention photonic reflection on the periodic table? lol

Cant wait to see his reply. Should be good.

What is it I said that needs explaining?

And you come into a thread titled "Silly question time" and then demand that people not be silly? I bet you're a lot of fun at parties.

The point of the thread title is to indicate that the question i was asking might be a silly one due to how obvious the answer might be, not that i'm asking a silly question in terms of our general perception of "silly". Indeed i was hoping for answers of substance and actual science.

BOOM there it is!
d.s.m - Now youve been put comfortably back in your place can we stop all this silliness and stick to the topic at hand, then maybe we can both look forward to some lively but rational debates in future.

peace

I'm not sure where exactly my place is, but I don't get the feeling that I've been put back anywhere. I have no intention of stopping with the silliness, and I don't really look forward to any "lively but rational" debates with you, as you're about as lively as a potato with hurt feelings.

Oh, and just to keep things relevant, google "first surface mirrors".

goog specular reflection - lots of good info. Also try search for "ray" equations or models. Importantly, consider the typical thickness of glass on a mirror vs the thin film on mylar. Have fun & good luck.

Each mirror has one reflection. One sun in the reflection, and one mirror. If i broke the mirror into bits, then I put them together.would have a sun reflection in each bit creating a bunch of mirrors. this can give light to lower branches. Also i have seen the skylights that reflect light threw a little hole with mirrors. they make a little hole look like a full sized skylight.

,Well i largely ignored what was being said due to bickering and just unsubscribed from the thread :D the impatience of a stoned man, is that an oxymoron? :D other than the impatience of a stoned man wanting to get more stoned.

Anyways, seems like the mythbusters epiode just out covers exactly this
