Trigger inside, then put outside

Anyone have an opinion on triggering a plant to flower (12/12) inside, then putting the plant outside when the daylight is still nowhere near 12/12? Will the plant revert back to veg state? How long should the triggered plant be left inside in 12/12 before putting it outside?

im doing this currently and did also last year to trigger early because of time issues. worked out for me. make sure its in a completely dark place for at least 12 hours. better longer then shorter, from my experience.

why is that? doesnt matter much if its inside or not, once the plant gets 12 hours of darkness, it will start flowering. correct me if im mistaken. as well only here to learn.

I thinking about trying it this year, but not until July. Right now, with the days still being long, I'm fairly sure they will reveg. My plants last year starting flowering late July and early August, so I'm going to try to stick some out mid July and have them on 12/12 for about 2 weeks beforehand. I'm pretty confident that they will stay in flowering and finish a month sooner.

BTW, outdoor plants start flowering LONG before 12/12. If that were the case, outdoor plants would start flowering until late October.

Anyway Im making an order from attitude tonight to take advantage of some of the promos and wanted to put a few out in july. Do you think 12/12ing a plant straight from sprout mght reduce its yeild? I would have to guess so.. Do u plan on maybe veging a bit before you flip it to 12/12? Im definitely interested in doing this too. Let me know what you think!

Hm this is a interesting thread to me because I been wondering the same thing. I heard from someone on another thread that I could take a vegging plant in the outdoor's and place a black trash can ben over it everyday to start the 12/12 flowering cycle but in my thought process I figured that there would have to be some heat and light leakage problem's that could cause problems such as hermi and possibly even kill the plant. I am just now going to have my try at starting one single seedling and keep it around 1 to 2 feet. Maybe just bringing it indoors for it's darkness period of 12/12 for 2 week's then taking it outside once it starts flowering would be a better ideal as it would be around July by then, but would it reveg? Around where I'm at which is the lone star state it is very hot around July and get's in the 100's. That would cause flowering problem's maybe? Hm I'm not sure. I do know watering is a constant must.

Whats up Pa. Got a camp up in the northern tier and I'm going up there for the summer with some hash plant and some viking ( an old Positronics offering that you can't get any more). Was up there this last week and it snowed like 4ins. Last year took some clones that were fresh rooted and put them straight to flower under a 1000 watter for 3weeks then put them outside in June in 3 gallon pots. They finished the 3rd week of August. Averaged about 3ozs. a pot. Even thou I've never seen another person up there in all the years i've been going there my balls were feeling squeezed as they were in the yard the whole time. Anyhow you all should try this but from what I understand it will only work with Indica dominate plants. ​

and also by flowering earlier hopefully you should get the best of the sun in the summer instead of sept oct!

Yup, the good advantage of this is that the buds will be more compact as the sun is stonger in the middle of summer instead of fall...

Also you will be harvesting earlier if you get em started 2-3 weeksbefore..

I had definitely planned on putting them out once the days started getting shorter (so past June 21), and would probably wait until mid-July, which would give them a few weeks of 12/12 in my closet. I think if they've got a few weeks of flowering under their belts, and are put out in conditions where the days are getting progressively shorter then I'll be okay and they won't re-veg. As another poster mentioned, they'll still flower in conditions that aren't 12/12, but I'm hoping that going from 12/12 to, say, 14/8 or 13/9 won't shock them and send them scurrying back into veg mode.

i have put plants into flower and had to thin them out due to space issues. put 3 of them outside too early. they reveged and grew all weird shape. was not happy with them at the end of sumer. i will not do this again.

I remember reading about it somewhere last fall and was reminded when he mentioned it on the PA thread. Yeah I'm going to veg for about two weeks, then two weeks on 12/12. I never did a 12/12 from seed grow, but everything I've seen suggests letting them veg for even just a week or two before flipping to 12/12 significantly increases yield. So, I'm figuring I'm going to sprout them in mid June to have it timed right that they are ready by mid July.

I was thinking about taking advantage of that promo too. They are giving away some really nice strains.

I was planning on doing the same thing MR.MJ420. Last year I vegged 2 plants 12/12 right away until I knew it was a female and then I put the lights on for 20 hrs a day for a month before I put them outside. Took them a while to start growing possibly from shock but also the weather wasnt very sunny last spring. Turned out to be my biggest, but thats also because they had large roots established.

Here's a good link to dial in day lengths by your zip code. When I checked mine I realized my longest day is 16 hours after June 1, so dialing back my lights from 18/6 to 16/8 so they go out fully acclimated. Plus, I'll save $$ on the power bill!
