hey i am on my seconds grow my first i was using shitty 200 watt cfls that just suck so i went to wal mart and bought 2 led bulbs they are not super bright but holyyyy they are growing my plants so fast as seedlings they were constantly fanning toward the light and now my plants are only 18 days old and now that they have 4 or 5 sets of leaves they are growing soo fast sereiously evreyday i wake up and they are growing straight into the light the only down fall is that you need the light very close to get this to happen like right up to the plant (ill post pics tonight) and when you put it that close it will grow so fast that it always ends up growing right into the light i am using 1 3.5 wat led bright white bulb for each plant and they are growing faster then my outdoor plants (the outdoor ones also have a 1 month headstart ) i will post pics tonight but this has made me a lot more interested in contuniing my grow ( i only have 2 plants) personal use , becuse evreyday there is so much new growth its just fun to see the plant diffrent evreyday the bulbs are made by lights of america and cost 16 bucks after tax ill post pics tonight happy growing

If you think HID is still always better for flower than HID then you have no right speaking on anyone's behalf in here thanks. Don't come in here and pander to the HID fanboys by talking crap about LED in an LED thread when you are coming in here to ask us about LED. LED can flower better than MH/HPS watt for watt if you get a good panel from a good company. Also you said you only wanted talk from LED growers, so you saying they won't flower as well as HID makes you a hypocrite as you state you have no experience with LED.

That said, most any LED will veg but only the good ones will flower.

Dont ask, "whats the best light out there", ask "whats the best light for MY purpose"

LEDs have worked for me so far, on my very small grow. Understand, though LEDs have worked for me so far, HIDs seem to have better penetration, intensity, and are cheaper. Also, know that most LED configurations dont provide all the spectrums you need; its best to supplement with something else. And they are only cost effective for small personal grows. If you tried to do a large grow you would spend a small fortune!

But, i like what ive seen so far. and the technology will only improve from here.

I compare the LED backlash to the L4 backlash a few years back. When i first got a 4 cylinder car, all the V8 people laughed, and said economy cars suck ass. its not as fast, true, but its the RIGHT VEHICLE FOR MY PURPOSE. People say its not the best car, but it works, and cheaply, so its the best car for me. Those V8 people stopped laughing when gas hit 4 bucks a gallon. HID users will come around eventually. remember the first 4 cylinders to hit the market? They sucked! Now there are some bad ass cars that are gas sipping L4s! Give it time, have faith.

Here is a few pics of my big buddha blue cheese, they were vegged with a 140 watt custom made veg light and there now in my flowering cab under 280 watts of custom made light.

I had a few problems with the back 2 plants when i moved them over to the flower cab i ripped a load of roots out of them but they have recovered but are way behind the others:( Its my first grow so im not to concerned.

They have been in flower for about a week.

Thats what I am talking about im pulling 2 ounces + dry weight off plants in one gallon containers using 2 240w blackstars and one 300w chinese led with advanced nutrients GMB and molasses !
Over 2 ounces dry from a one gallon container?
That would mean well over 4 ounces (closer to 5 or 6) wet, in a 1 gallon container, really?
That doesn't sound right regardless of what kind of light your using.

For every ounce dry you need minimum 4 ounces wet, 75% is lost in the drying/curing process so yes well pointed out there.

Thanks Mike. Still waiting my 300, FedEx is such a crap company to receive a delivery from. If you have an option to use UPS or USPS, you may want to look into that. My wife just had a (6 week premature) baby so we are running all over and it took all weekend, Monday plus today and tomorrow for them to stop delivery and "hold" my light. If it was UPS I could have gotten it Friday/Saturday. FedEx doesn't do Saturday deliveries, nor do they transport ground packages on saturday, apparently.

That said, get your website done bro! If you need some help, pm me and we can talk - you would get more sales with a website that is updated (especially on in-stock #s).

Well he's got 2x240 and 1x300 so he's running at 780w advertised. Closer to 700 probably (who knows what the Chinese panels actually pulls!) so that's 2ozs per 600-700 watts which is certainly possible. Might even be on the low side but that could be due to pot size...

That was the point, I've never heard of anyone growing 6 or 7 ounces wet out of a 1 gallon pot.
It's not about his wattage, it's about physical capacities of the planting container.
To get a plant in a 1 gallon container to yield such an amount it would have to be vegged into a large plant over a couple months.
Then it would be another 2 plus months of flowering.
A 1 gallon container would A.) not be able to support such a large plants weight due to root space limitations B.) after 4 plus months in the same small container, the roots would have become root bound and seriously hamper the yield.
Like Newworldicon said above, you lose 75% of your buds weight during drying and yielding.
I've always went by 66%, but using either estimate, 2 ounces dry off of a plant that was in a 1 gallon container doesn't add up.

Well a 1 gallon isn't THAT small. A milk jug is a gallon. SICC kills it in party cups and he can pull like half an oz per 14oz cup. There's a little over 9 party cups per gallon (128ounces in a gallon divided by 14 = 9. something) By that logic SICC would be pulling 4.5 ounces if he went for it in a 1 gallon pot.

Why do you keep referencing wet weights? We smoke it dry man! And the 75% thing is only an educated guess as to how much weight is lost and there's several other factors that can influence that. (density of buds, how recently it was watered, nutrients/additives, soil or hydro, etc) I don't think wet weight is even a factor here?

And you can totally pull 2 ozs off a plant and not veg it for months. LEDs kill it in veg. I'm seeing journals where people reduce their veg times using them.

Plus one could use Mykos, made a huge difference for me and I didn't even use as much as was told to. Great LED + Mykos = INTENSE VEG I could easily see someone doing more than a couple oz with a gallon of super soil and some mykos under a good LED
 
this is for spectra on the leds you dont gaing watts you lose on a 600watt led you get 520watts so dont tell people you get more watts ken trugrulights allleds

What? Please explain more clearly, is that a quote from an LED seller? Spectra sounds like it might be talking about GLH but they haven't made any 600w since sometime last year or sooner (perhaps back then they weren't as forthcoming about it as they've been since September 2010). The new line apparently when someone plugs them into a kill o watt meter thing they get 5-9watts higher than the name of the unit implies they should use (the older generation before 2011 possibly used a little less instead of a little more, but not like companies who say 500w when its really less than 300), and I'm pretty sure this is because Mike wants the name of the unit to end in a 0 without risking people thinking the unit uses more power than it does. When GLH says a unit is 180 or 290 or 500 it won't be less (as it would with most LED companies), but it does include the fans (pretty sure they're 3w each)
 
in my veg room i run 4 300watt leds and 1 2x4 that i made with crees and 120watt you can run 110v or 220v its up to you yes veging takes less time veg romm is 30x30 in the flower room i run 3 600watt and 2 1000hps the plants go under the leds then i push under the hps all lights in same room you will find out if you do all leds the buds are smaller but the thc is more it looks like snow 1 hps 600gams 1 led 450gams so i run leds and hps in same room take the glass out of the hoods to get les heat have a good day kentrugrolights i use all my lights in my rooms see you at hemcon in san jose june 10@12

HI peepz, I build LED panels for a living. I work with chips of 1, 3, and 5 watt, chineses sourced chips. Typically, any LED panel you buys that has 500w for example, should be running at around 90% of it's rated capacity. Every 1 watt chip really gets .9 watts, and 3 watt chips get 2.70 watts. Driving them beyond their specs makes them get pretty hot without good active cooling. I took a small heat sink of about 1.5 inch x 1.5 inch square and 2mm thick, it got uncomfortable to touch after 30 minutes, with just one 3 watt LED running at full cap. So the manufacturers like to say a bunch of shit about how they have 175 x 3watt lamps on their boards making xxx watts, but in reality they always under drive them because proper sinking and active cooling cost a bundle more than underdriving. Peace
