Is This Smell Normal?

Apologies as this is my first grow thus my first harvest.

While growing my plant smelled very very chronic and obviously of pot... I have since harvested, dried, and am 5 days into curing (mason jars) .. the whole time curing the buds have smelled like "green" (alot like vegetables or something) ... does the dank smell come back out after curing or am i doing / did i do something wrong?

^^ but if it doesnt usully a sign that u pulled it too early. how long did you hang it up for? less than a week is pretty much garunteed that you lose potency, flavor, smell etc.depends on genetics too. if you dont know the origin of the seed/clone who knows what ya got...

The "green" smell has nothing to do with early harvest. Either:
A: nutrients are still stored in the bud itself
B: it wasn't dried in proper temp/humidity

usually marijuana smells like hay. It's very tough to get it down perfect. Before you even chop the plant, a solid and perfect game plan must be made(humidity, temp, proper flush, just water 2 weeks etc)

Much of this depends on how closely the flowers were trimmed. If the RH inside the jar is at a correct level, the hay smell will dissipate in time.

LOL. I love seeing what type of smell my plants are going to develop while they are drying/curing, often times I have two of the same strains that may smell similar, but distinctly different. I have two Jock Horrors that are finishing up now.

I have one plant I have drying and it smells a bit fruity.

Then I have another one that I dubbed the 'mutant plant' as it didn't grow as well, and I swear to you guys this thing smells like straight cat piss!! The smell is changing as time passes though.

Although I have yet to see a strain do this, I heard that curing will bring the smell back. Mine always smell dank when growing, drying and curing. Just get better and better never grassy, weird.

lol @tuxedotoker... never seen someone with a early harvest? try chopping a few weeks early and see if you can get it to smell like anything other than hay/alfalfa... :/ early harvest and other things will cause the plant to lose smell.. ie stress etc...

Anyways Im like r1tony right herre ^^ it never stops smelling dank...

Early harvested product can cure relatively well. It's a matter of technique and the composition of the flower mass, itself.

the green or hay smell comes from drying too fast. next time just trim the fan leaves and then hang to dry in the dark at 45%-65% rh 65-75 F. when the buds can be smoked in a joint without goin out and the buds can be picked off the stem cleanly without stringing then manicure and jar.
