Would This Work to Hold My Girls in Veg?

Im growing in a greenhouse atm there is only 10 hours of light from sunset to sunrise, Im about the throw some beans in there and i want to add additional lighting in there to hold them in veg, so the plan is when the sun goes down the lights will come on for 5 to 6 hours, then when i decide to flower them ill cut the additional lights completly.

Would a 400watt MH cover a 15ft by 15ft area about 5ft above the plants?

i realise the plants that are further away will not grow from this light, but im hoping in theory the 10 hours of sun will act as the direct light and the 5 hours of additional light will be as if they were in shade, so still holding them in veg.

In theory, it sounds good. Plan to see some stretching from the light being so far away. The outer area is going to grow slower but you already know that. I use a 400 watt MH and it throws a good amount of light. You may want to look into one of those parabolic reflectors that will spread the light out for you.

I put 1 CFl 23 w every 25 sq foot just at the tops but it will not hurt to hang a few down low . They come on at 3 am so all are asleep near me! If you see preflowers add more lights. This dose NOT make them grow! I like to Veg. and run my moms outdoors why pay for what the sun can do . .In winter I use A insulated fiber glass pot with a heating tube in it from Daun's glassic.

that would work fine no problem. you dont even need to keep it on that long if u dont want just have it come on for 5 minutes in the middle of the night to interrupt the darkness and they will stay in veg

That sounds good, will they still grow though or just stay in veg?
