Making a Super Soil

Hey, i wanted to ask you all a quick question if you dont mind


I was wondering what is better; buying each soil amendment ie., kelp meal, bat and sea bird guano, worm castings, perlite, verlite, dolomite and so on to complete the list or

is it better to do like what i did; i bought Dr. Earths organic line of plant foods or fertz if you may, each product contains most of the individual amendments required for the TGA's super soil mix, they only lack the verlite, dolomite and worm castings, but include everything else.

So, what is better? What i did i did because of money, kinda low on it right now so any help or advice is greatly appreciated..

I personally think that super soil is the best way to go.. I get ridiculous plant growth and delicous buds.

Organic transplant fertilizer-2-4-2


Bulb and plolyp food-4-10-7



Bud and bloom booster- 3-15-2

And I also added bat guano 10-3-1

Bone meal - 6-9-0


And a lot of perlite

mix your self!! its a major pita but you have moore control over quality.Soil companies do not use quality amendments, its all about the $ what ever is cheapest at the time. IMO

i've found nothing on that soil, but from the pictures it looks like its .3-.3-.3 guaranteed.

super soils are usually made with premium soils like just right xtra or roots organics, that already have a heavy amount of fertilizer. And also usually layered like lasagna in a container with amended super soil on the bottom and base soil on top.

I would start seeds and clones in dixie cups, veg in 1-3 gallon containers, flower in 5 gallon containers.

Use just jiffy potting mix in the dixie cups,
Use jiffy potting mix + a directed amount or less of the high nitrogen ferts ie: bat guano+transplant+bonemeal in the veg container
Use jiffy potting mix + a directed amount or less of the high phosphorus/potassium fertilizers ie: bulb+bloom booster + transplant in the bloom container

Since 1-3 gallons of soil will be brought over from the veg container to the bloom container, you will only be filling the 5gallon bucket halfway with the soil and mixing in the tablespoons or w/e of fertilizer, then dropping in the 1-3gallon rootmass that came from the veg container. (edit and of course cover with more potting soil around the sides and top of the container)

That's just what I would do if I were you and wanted to make due with what I already had.

Awesome info bro! +rep! it has been growing very good with that soil mix I put it in. Doing lst for the first time, I was able to get 6 main colas that are vegging still. Im hoping that mix will get me through flowering as well. I made it in a 5 gallon square pot with the proper directions, so im hoping it works well. I have seen from 1-2in growth each day on the tallest colas.

Actually, dr.earths is from cali. I did some research on them and it turns out that the owner has been working with medical mj growers to make feeding chart, ive seen it on here.or another forum, but if I find it, I will post it up. Im hoping for good results with the mix I made, if it does work, I will continue to use it. I will add dolomite, worm castings and vermiculite in the near future.

sorry to creep in on your thread oly but this seems like the place to get my questions answered

im going to mix my soil very soon but i need to know how much of my amendment i should add. I will have 15 plants growing in 5 gallon pots.

i have 2 bales of promix BX and 5 bags of black earth top soil to mix together.
I have Worm castings, high N bat guano, Bone meal, Dolomite Lime, to add aswell. Im going to use all the worm castings and bat guano but im unsure of how much bonemeal and Lime to add.

So how much bonemeal and dolomite should i add to each 5 gallon container?

I'm sure Roots Organic and Fox Farms also work closely with MM growers as well and both often have bugs and when they run out of an amendment they replace it with what ever is cheapest I have no personal exp. with Dr. earth so I can't say anything about them, but it would suprise me that they do things different . For what its worth I use Basement made by Royal Gold out of Humbolt 100% quality! all amendments are stored indoors a ferfect base soil for Supersoil.

So much hostility! Im using them and I cant complain with the results im getting thus far. Those soils are a bit too pricey at the moment, so this will do for now. Thanks for the insight though about how companies work.
