Shopping List to switch to Hydro

I'm making plans now to switch to hydro in the next coupld months. Of course I don't expect someone to explain every factor, but if you could help me with anything missing from my plans it would help. Mentioned other aspects of the grow figured it could only help.


Already own:
5'x5'x7.5' Secret Jardin tent DR150

6in inline fan 432cfm and osciallting fans

CO2 enriched from tank, on controller, runs only when inline fan isnt running.

light is 1000 mh/hps

Planned nutes Fox Farm full hydro line, I liked their comprehensive feeding/resevoir changing chart they provide. They seem to keep it pretty simple.

For medium I'm planning to use hydroton and rockwool cubes.

From growing in soil I've aquired most of the basics, like ph up and down, timers, trays. Without personally knowing someone with a hydro setup It's hard to tell what else I'll need.

Any suggestions on equipment or just newbie hydro advice is welcome

So far so good. Although just a bit of advice and starting a shit storm here but research it for yourself and save yourself a lot of headache and get the Dyna Gro series its super clean and stable I hardly have to touch my rez, Hydrozyme ( must have). Do not get fancy with anything else until you get the hydro down. I do not use anything else but that's my grow.

Yeah I'll deffinately try that, I already have a bag of them so might as well. I had bought them originally for my soil grow/clones.

Thank you for the advice, I haven't made my mind up on any nute yet. Looking into dyna grow now, which of their products do you use? also do you know if they provide a feeding schedule? Their prices do look good. And I agree having to dial in so many new factors with hydro, I'm not looking to buy expensive nutes if I'm not getting the most the most out of them.

I'd maybe reconsider the ebb and grow. Not trying to steer you away from it if you have your heart set on one but every time I see someone doing a grow with one they have some kind of trouble. Whether it be stagnant water sitting in the buckets, the system flooding out, overall poor performance. There are easier systems out there that will yield better results. I've got a similar tent to you, secret jardine 4x8. I used two 3x3 flood tables with 15 gallon reservoirs for each table. It's a pretty easy low maintenance system that yields some good results. No need for a chiller or anything like that with it as the roots are exposed to plenty of oxygen.

All you would need is:

4x4 table
20-30 gallons res.
1 250gph water pump.
1 air pump (I use the sunleaves dura series)
1 large air stone or several small ones to oxygenate/mix the nutrient solution while it sits in the rez.
some airline to hook your airstone to the pump.
Flood and drain fittings for the table.

All this stuff can be bought pretty cheaply.

I'm growing in a cool basement, venting to outside. Hoping temps won't be an issue, would hate to lose a crop to algae. Thanks for the H202 tips, I read about that awhile ago for root rot. Will keep in mind.

I use all of them there are only 4 Grow Bloom Protekt, and Mag pro. You cannot go wrong.

prolly be fine in a basement. still need the H2o2. Good luck.

beneficials are good however you get them. For someone new to hydro < I have to recommend hygrozyme. I am not mixing bs up and storing it for a week or two at a time. Just my take on it. If it works for you thats great.

Growing one plant is one thing investing thousands of dollars to grow many is a whole other topic. You have to remember that when you give advice. losing one or 2 plants is one thing losing 12 or 40 is another.

Highly suggested where?
