Are "likes" killing +rep?

Reps and likes are arbitrary unless you're the type of person that cares what people think about you on the internet.

I somewhat disagree, "likes" are for those who care what others say. "+Rep" is for helping others. A way to tell if your actually helping someone. That like button is kinda silly. The rep is a proven way to see whos geting the info you provide.

the like feature is a good way to let someone know what you think without having to actualy post in the thread. flexability is power.

Yeah I see that but it seems that some people pass it out like candy and for me it gets annoying. But if others like it then I don't care really. It isn't going to keep me up at night! Gotta go smoke and tend my plants!

I toyed with the idea of liking this post!!!! LOL I see this thread turning into a like fest just as a joke. Someone should start a thread on RIU just to get the first posts the most likes. just like a title that says "Get this thread the most likes" so people could just post in there and like the first post?????? I would do it.

Yes. Likes killed the +rep. But I still get a +rep once or twice a day. But now I get 40-50 likes a day.

Yeah anyone that asks for rep is a fucking douche bag. I have given rep many times if people have helped me out with a problem, or if they have done something worth a shit with their plants. That way people will know that person knows what they are talking about. Anyone searching around for rep asking for it is a real dumb ass!
