Hey all thought I would do something a little Different this time and experiment. So after switching nutrients because advanced nutrients SUCK BAD!!!! Tried it for 4 harvests and yea those nutrients suck something horrible. So anyways Changed nutrients and now experimenting with a few different things. So lets see how this one turns out. Here is my new setup. 3 x 1000 watts, AC unit 2 HPS lights and 1 Halide that rotates every week. Went from AN to GH agian. Nutrients include, General hydroponics Micro, Grow and Bloom. Ok so here are some pics and stuff. i got 4 more weeks about and they are looking great. Here are the Beginning pic, 2 weeks flower, and another one that is after 3 weeks flower. Please comment and if you think im doing a good job throw me some rep. If you think it sucks please tell me how I could do better. THANKS EVERYONE!!! LOOK FOR UPDATES EVERY 2-3 DAYS FROM NOW ON.... Did the bud topping thing, one of my first experiments here, will not make em bigger but does make em fatter, as they grow out instead of up, once I saw this I stopped doing it

So anyways Changed nutrients and now experimenting with topping the buds ( not topping the plant ) using a metal halide in combination with HPS and rotating every week. New foliar spray ( few different things ) . So lets see how this one turns out. Here is my new setup. 3 x 1000 watts, AC unit good enough to keep at 68-70 last 3-4 weeks of flowering. 3 Flood Trays, 1 3x3, 1 4x4, and 1 4x8. 2 reservoirs, 1 a 40 Gallon for the 3x3 tray and a 115 Gallon for the 4x8 and 4x4 ( opposite feeding times at 8 x per day now 4 weeks into flowering ) 2 HPS lights and 1 Halide that rotates every week. This grow I actually used a Metal Halide for the first 2 weeks of Flowering and the one section of plants that I left it over for the 3rd week was already getting covered in Trich's very much a noticeable difference from the ones under the HPS. I will also probably use the Halide only for last week or 10 days of flowering not sure yet. RAN AWAY FROM ADVANCED NUTES. ( what a joke ). Nutrients include, Cal/Mag, General hydroponics Micro, Grow and Bloom. Liquid Koolbloom, Powder Koolbloom, Merlin Garden pro reverse osmosis ( for water ) with a weekly flush of H2O2 and Clearex. Foliar spray for 2 week veg period and first week flowering was, nitrozyme, Wet Betty, and Superthrive. For week 2 and 3 of flowering Foliar spray changed to Superthrive, Wet Betty & Hydroplex ( yes I said Hydroplex as a Foliar spray) additive for second and third week of flowering. 4th week added some purple Max. 5th week will add Gravity on top of that. Co2 of course but I did not realize that the valve was off the entire time so I just barely got C02 in there start of week 4. Like I said this was my experimental grow changing up a few recipes. Week 4 running at 1900 PPM for Blue Dream and no burn. YAY..... ok so here are some pics and stuff. I wish I could upload a video of 10 days in veg but I don't think I can on this site. If I can please tell me how anyways I got 4 more weeks about and I just topped all my buds. Just the center of them so growth kinda stopped for about 3 days but now they are pumping it out again. Yea I did one plant last harvest and it ended up getting me 6 more grams then any other one in there and topping was the only difference. So I am hoping that it does it again this time. Doing the toping, the lights and the hydroplex in Foliar feed and we shall see what that gets me. Still not a bad average to get about 2 oz and 3 grams to 2 oz and 7 grams about per plant so that was 2 consistent harvests with same results so now I am hoping that I don't lose on this one but if I do..... Lesson learned and another chapter in how not to do stuff is written...... But... If it works I get closer to Grand Master level muhahahah

I am glad I am trying the Halide the Crystal formation is MUCH MUCH MORE under halide. I have done much research and the studies show that flowering under Halide will increase crystal production. Although I will never go to 100% Halide it does work great in combo with your HPS

looking good man....! how tall was they when you put them in 12/12? and what kind of soil brand do you use?

I use canna cocoa core and the biggest perllite chunks they make and do a 50/50 mix. I veg for 2 weeks and then they were about 18-21 inches tall before I started to bend them and i think they stretched about 1-2 feet each plant when I started 12/12

What I've also heard to produce more resin production in the last 2 weeks before harvest is to switch from a HPS to CMH(Ceramic Metal Halide) bulb. Haven't tried it personally yet but willing to try my next grow.

Why not? Sunpulse and plantmax make a 3k metal halide (metal halide version of HPS)

if you went CMH from the beginning you will get more coverage of "crystals" and resin than you would just adding it in the last 2 weeks, same deal with some Metal halides... I heard a guy uses a sunpulse/plantmax 3k bulb and a sunpulse/plantmax 10k bulb , skipping the 4k and 6.5k bulb and he claims it works pretty good... HPS will never put on crystals and rez like MH/CMH will.... keep in mind the 10k bulb is supposedly a high UVA/UVB bulb, if you are running a 1 bulb setup they say to throw it in the last 2 weeks but a 1 bulb setup is not going to be pro ever unless its a plasma

P.S. I'm not knocking CMH I think they are good... just wish they had 600watt or 1000watt bulbs

Last one I did Halide first 2 weeks and then last 2 weeks and what a nice surprise that was... So now I am just keeping one in there now after the first 2 weeks and rotating it. Already see the difference in crystals formation. Hoping that rotating the light may do a little better even we shall see. Here is a video I posted of room check it out and rep + if you like it.

this is very helpful and came at a crucial moment in my grow. I have about 10 days left til harvest and I just dimmed my 600w to 75% on my ballast. But knowing what I know now, I'm switching the HPS bulb out and putting the MH bulb back in when lights are out. Thanx for the help. Check out my grow and leave any other advice. I would say do not dim the light at all.. Give it as many lumens as you can.

Well the two reasons why I chose to get the Quantum Dimmable Ballast, was to start at 50% day 1 of Veg/Flower then increase to 75% after 3-4 days and then to 100% in another 3-4 days. Just to not shock the plants with the hid lights. The other reason was for the total opposite. Dim it down slowly a couple days before harvest to make the plant think its losing light and it then tries to push out all available nutrients to the buds. Just my way of thinking but havent tried it yet. I've also been told to raise the light a couple inches higher every couple days instead of dimming works. Not sure what works I don't have too many grows under my belt yet.

You will get the results you want dimming. If the plant loses light it is losing what is giving it the ability to grow through photosynthesis. The more light the better and faster the growth or in this case bigger buds. I actually use the super lumen setting as i get into flowering for more lumen output or a brighter light. Do not take away from your plants the last days like that instead, you should give them a pure 48 hours of darkness instead of dimming the light right when your ready to cut em down. This will give you the results your looking for.
