Plan and Soil Question

SO I'm Transplanting some seedlings from a soiless mix and they are going outside.

I have some perlite.. Half a bag of Kellogg Patio Plus, and a full 3cu. ft of Kellogg Garden Soil.

I also have this fertilizer: Kellog: Tomato& Veg : 4-6-3 here is detailed analysis: http://agr.wa.gov/pestfert/fertilizers/fertdb/prodinfo.aspx?pname=5404

I also have a 4lb tub of Earthworm castings.

Does this sound like it will work? Or should I buy a bag of Foxfarm?

Can I get through Veg state with just this?
Will I need Some type of cal/mag source? If so, what can I use that's Organic for that?

You're probably good, the Patio+ alone has enough to veg for a month or so, and that garden soil is a lot more dense, so I'm assuming it's a richer blend. I actually used a similar mix, the Patio + and Kellogg's Garden soil(blue bag), perlite, bone meal and seabird guano...But thats for the bottom half of my holes, for the top half I'm just gonna use straight up Patio+. I think you're good, and unless you're using RO water, you shouldn't have to add cal/mag. I mean, everyone wil have different opinions on things, and someone might come in here tomorrow and blast me for being wrong, but I think the ingredients in the Kellogg's soil's you chose should be good.



With ingredients like kelp meal, guano, worm castings, dolamite lime, oyster shell...I mean, those are solid ingredients for an organic blend.

I always feel my watering is what fucks it all up.
Friends/Neighbors tell me to use Tap, Schoolmates say use purified or RO with cal/mag supplement, and then there's people saying go buy purified/mineral water.
I live in Stockton, I wouldn't drink our water, and I don't wanna buy shit. I'm done buying shit because I just bought everything for my "cage" and I'm broke for 2 weeks.. lmao

I also do not own a pH tester so cant pH water or test soil.. a neighbor grows pounds of perfect buds and he doesn't pH shit and uses tap water straight from the hose. I don't get it, sometimes I feel like weed just don't wanna grow for me.

Well, you can use tap, but the chlorine/chloramine will kill off the beneficial life in the soil you're trying to breed with organics...If your tap has chlorine, you can just let it sit out for a day or so, but most tap is now treated with chloramine, which does not evaporate from the water. You can go to PetCo and get this stuff in the aquatics section called "Amquel", it neutralizes the chlorine and chloramine in water. Though the bottle DOES say "Not for use with food fish", so I dunno if you wanna smoke the stuff. I'd say thats the cheapest and easiest solution.

And yeah, if you know your neighbor grows, and you have grow envy, just copy what he's doing!

LMAO.. I know right? That's what sucks, I know hes able to do what he does because he uses miracle grow soil and MG all purpose plant food. I dont want to use MG or I would just copy him.. lol

I baught a pH and moisture meater from lowes but the needle doesn't move at all. I've tested wet, dry, straight dirt. No needle movement for pH or moisture. Fuckin cheap imported crap. Gues I should have kicked down $30 instead of $10 for a good one..

Any advice on a reliable and cheap meter?

$11 for the one i use. chlorine/chloramine shouldn't be as big of an issue as ph. make sure youre keeping the ph of your water between 6.8 - 6.4 for vegging, any higher/lower can result in nutrient lockout in the roots and potentially burn the roots of your plant. not sure what the ph of your tap water is but mine is usually around 7.5. i have to put a little ph down in the bottle every time i water to get it in the sweet spot.

if I don't want to buy/use pH up and down in liquid form, what can I use to adjust soil pH? and how much should be used?

Doesn't pH up and down kill beneficial microbes/fungi and such?? I want to use something natural.

Baking powder ph up and vinegar ph down.Also is you ph meter solar powered?cause I picked up a $7 ph meter that runs on solar power at the home depot.
