DMT Extraction (question)

So i would love to extract some spice and i believe i have a good place to get bark and have looked up various acid/base teks extensively.

The only part im slightly worried about is the Naptha.
I cant use a freezer to crystallize so i will be evaporating the naptha, when i am doing this will the smell be horrible?? :/
I will be doing it in an outside garage (apartment complex) so its not near anyone living/sleeping but people might be walking by at some point and i dont want them to smell naptha and report a "meth lab" to the cops.

Am i oversketching out or what is your experience/suggestions?

This depends on how much naphtha you will be evaporating at a time. It's lighter fluid, it doesn't smell too strong compared to other solvents, but if you are doing big pulls scent will build up. Usually my freezer ends up smelling like naphtha, but not my whole house like with other solvents.
If you keep your pulls low it should smell no worse than filling a zippo.

I don`t think mine smelt at all. Mine was completely open air (on my balcony in a bowl) with a piece of cloth on it to stop dust and insects falling in. If your shed is fairly ventilated no smell should escape, maybe put a few cans or jar with paint brushes and some thinner in around your shed if your that paranoid? Go low on the starting material on the first try is a word of advice so to not waste.

I first thought just like you, that naphta couldn`t be evaporated. I then heard my friend tell me he made massive crystals by evaporating. I told him I got a goo when I evaporated and he said those were the fats from the plant. And he did say he didn`t get those fats when he tried, dunno why. He said you can take those fats out with an acid to base extraction too. He noted you didn`t have to take the fats out and said they give you a more earthy trip. Earthy in a natural sense. I wasn`t good friends with him after he started extracting so I`m low on the info side. I did see a pretty amazing pic of his crystal and he said he did slow evaporation. He wouldn`t lie on a side note, just saying I didn`t have time to ask enough questions.

Thanks for info everyone :) . I wanted to get 500g-1kg of Mimosa bark, so i can have enough spice to last me a while :D. What amount/size pulls should i do to make it manageable?

Oh and karma no freezer^^ :/ so just evaporation

There is no limit to the size of pulls apart from your equipment i.e jars. The other limit would be the smell like you said. My pulls were about hmmm... from 100ml-250ml I think. If your worried about how much your naphta will smell you can just get a jar and half fill it with naphta, put it in your shed and have a sniff around and inside the next day.

Like I said, the size of a pull depends on you, make sure the first pulls are small and the large ones are when your used to it, so you can avoid the chance of losses.

Also please watch the risk of fire with large amounts of naphta, I had a small fire extinguisher in my room, a fire blanket should serve quite good in an accident too. Don`t forget, fire is a good reason why people get caught and the sooner its out the less chance there is. Another factor is that if anything catches fire, there is DMT vapour in the air. Watch sparks from fan motors and smoke with extreme caution!

I love you guys :) Thats a prefect idea i probably will be doing that i know kroger has dry ice fairly cheap i think.
And thanks for the advice Tenner :P Ill make sure there is zero chance of a fire and have an extinguisher/water bucket on hand.

BlazedMonkey, after what my friend proved to me with evaporation I would advise you to start off with 30g min to 100g max, say to do 2 pulls out of this; put the first pull in the "freezer" and put the second one on evaporation. You will have tested both methods and your naphta too. If I had the picture of that crystal you would agree on evap right now, put it that way :D

You could actually put some plain napthta on the evap (about 50ml) and see whats left at the end of it if your worried about by products.

Plenty of options open for you, with a kg of material your sure gonna end up with some dank stuff :D

You've got to let us know how that works. I haven't tried it, but dry ice is cold enough at -109.3°F. I wonder if it would be too cold.

great idea on the dry ice sgt. floyd. if youre in a pinch blazedmonkey, and you dont have time, evaporating in a freezer isnt necessary. naphtha evaporates at room temperature, just takes longer. be careful storing it for evaporation in an unused garage. im not sure how it looks in there, but any dust/debris in the air could land in the open container and end up in your dmt. be careful to not let anything get in the naphtha. also, like tenner said, naphtha is flammable and potentially combustable. itll be harder to keep an eye on it in the garage but definitely make sure its away from any heaters, furnaces, pilot lights, etc.

Thanks guys :P Yah when i was looking up people who have done it like this (works great) there was one or two reports of people freezing their solvent solid hehe ill use saltwater/pieces of dry ice not too cold.
Yah i was more worried about smell but it seems like it isnt too bad , but i plan on evaporating a small amount to make sure i have pure naptha.

Evaporating better than freezer you say :o This would be much easier. Ill probably order my bark today or tomorrow, if anyone has any source for Great cheap bark and care to share through a pm... :P I have one so far that should be just fine but cant hurt to compare.

I know some people make a sepratory funnel out of a plastic bag or use a glass baster/pipette to get the naptha/dmt when you do the separation. What is the best method with that step?

If your planning on going for the turkey baster theres a few commonsense points to concider. You will find it quite hard to get that last centimeter of naphta out with the baster without sucking up the stuff from the bottom. The best course of action would be to not use a too wide jar, if your jar is slim then you have less liquid left in that 1cm of naphta. But nevertheless, my personal would be to not fuck around with a plastic bag and just baster it out whatever the jar shape. Slim makes it easier..

Make sure every time you work you have both clean bench space and no obstacles around your feet, this is the most important thing to do alongside with having goggles and some form of fire safety. Don`t bother with gloves but never rub or touch your eyes, dick, ears whichever while working, that will be BAD TIMES! :D

Wow that fasa is very interesting just skimmed the tek I'll have to look into it more :) do you have personally experience with it?
