Grow Bibles

Some growers follow their Grow Bibles religiously, down to the letter, and like the author is writting from the word of god, and we all know you dont follow the Holy Bible that closely, so my question is:

Which grow bible do you follow and why did you choose that particular book/resource? (doesn't have to be a book, could be website, friend, hydro shop, wherever you go first for knowledge, please no replies with google as the answer)

Thanks, look forward to reading the responses

None...I've read them.... but they are just guides to help those that don't understand ....what makes a plant tick!
Best thing to do is try it for yourself and see...Just because one thing works for one grower and their plant... doesn't mean it's best for you?

yeah...i agree with lime i think that thats what makes growing fun being able to have trail and error and learn from youre experiences....i think that you should use the growers bible for a reference to certin that are a neccesity in growing,........but i think you definately have to have some of your own style and technique to go along with what youve read. could you imagine ........youre having a conversation with someone about growing.......AND THEY WIP OUT A BOOK AND START READING WORD FOR WORD!!!!...LOL

i agree with lime thats one of the things that makes growing unique to be able to have trial and error and develope your own style to groowing...i think bibles should be a refrence to certin staples that involve growing ......but you should have your own personal style and technique..........imagine youre having convo with some one about growing, you ask them a question.............AND THEY WHIP OUT A BOOK AND START READING WORD FOR WORD!!!!!!.....LOL
Exactly!!! I've come across a few here that when one asks wtf wrong with my girls...some feel the need to post a pic of all of the mj def??? haha I have told a few if you don't want to get involved and help than don't post? cuz I could say" here read this(bible) and that should help you???" wtf........lmao that doesn't help them...so I try to find out whats going on and actually help.... not just to say something sarcastic just because. We are here to learn , and I have along way to go still!!!

Do we ever stop learning...NOPE!!! Someoone who say's they don't need to learn..... cuz they know it all already is full of it!

The art of growing is changing very fast in some ways, for example RDWC and not changing much at all, for example organic growing. By the time a book is in print it is old news, every thing you need to know is right here on RIU or you tube. The issue you face is deciding what is good info and what is garbage. One thing I learned from this site is just about anything can work if done right. I would decide on how I want to grow and than by a good gardening book on the subject. Remember the guys in the business want your money and don't give a rat's ass about what you do. So if you can get it for free why buy it, spend the money on good seeds and we will help you grow them babies. Do not buy the Jorge Cervantes book you can't pay more but you can buy better ( lots better books out there IMHO)

right i personally think you can learn a lot more of things that are relevant from one person with experience in growing than you could learn in a whole book ....i say that beacause what if im studying this book and i learn everything there is to know about soil grows and i end up doing a n.ft/areoponic grow..........also theres little subtlties to growing that i may learn from another person that ill never learn in a book ,......finding out how close my light should be by holding my hand under it ,or when to tell if my plants need watering,...ect..........i think books are useful but ,......your not going to read a driver manual and decide your fucking speed racer.....so why do it with growing

Couldnt agree more. Sort of why I created the thread, ive read these so called bibles and like you said they are good for general info, but once you start talking in absolutes and saying what others are doing is wrong because mr jorge cervantes does things different is where I question someone's ability to think on their own. Ive seen soooo many people on forums quoting these books trying to prove someone else wrong, I find it ridiculous. Im not saying these books arent good references, they are. I'm just saying don't think one guy is the end all resource for growing pot and he has the one and only recipe for success.

I'm still interested to hear more opinions on grow bibles, which ones people like, dislike, etc. because I am all about learning as much as possible, but there is no better way to learn than hands on experience

Books are a great reference and general learning tool as I said above, if your on the leading edge of growing running a RDWC system with 31 gal. buckets even the people who make the nutrients are not sure what to say. This is from personal experience with Canna. So if your looking for good info find or start a thread about what your doing and ask away. All the stuff from the books is online and there are much better guides for free. Do a search on the 3LB and see what they say about growing. Just don't believe the first answer you get and only consider it if you can find the same answer 3 times. As for J Cervantes he and his crew are old news and stuck in the 80's they are just in it for the money. If your into ORGANICS go get the book "Teaming with Microbes" and of anything you can read by Elaine Ingham.

Remember a picture is worth a 10000 words when asking.
