Reddish-purple stems, leaf stems and main veins are also a sign a Phosphorous deficiency.
It can be confused for Nitrogen deficiency, so only the addition of yellowing older leaves and their veins will confirm it's a N defic !

covered in my threads and in Ed Rosenthals latest book, leaves are either sinks or sources, a source provides energy, a sink stores energy
While this statement is correct, when your main stems are totally purple that's generally a pretty good indication that there is a phosphorus deficiency happening. Nitrogen can cause purple stems also, but it's generally more localized and streaky than what his pics show.

then perhaps you could explain how I get away with using a general purpose 20-10-20 all the way thru the whole grow without any defeciencies???

Because that "20-10-20" formula of NPK pretty much explains it for you and the rest of us !! lmao

Honestly, what other hydro store bought grow nutes have a NPK rating THAT high ?
Unless I missed it on the shelves of the 3 different hydro stores I frequent.

LOL cause my nutes are not available in hydro stores and only cost a dollar a pound, I buy 25 lb bags that last years. Funny your posting in UB's thread and never heard of JR Peters???

This plant, harvested last week was 2 foot tall, colas were 14 inches, it was grown under a 400 watt CMH with nothing but Peters Professional 20-10-20, yield was 4 oz's

I'm still waiting for that explanation???

Nice job. Like I said in my Phosphorous Abuse thread, some think that if a little P is a good thing, then a lot of P is even better. Of course it's not, but the oil companies play into these feelings, and give folks what they think they want. Again the question is, "how much P is required by the plant to promote good flowering?" Is it the typical 1-5-3 or a 1-1-1, or a 3-1-1?

In the real world of growing, your 20-10-20 is an excellent NPK ratio at about any stage of the plant's life cycle. Can't go wrong.

I use Jack's either the 20-20-20 or the 10-30-20 Both are great. I shop at a Nursery, not a hydro store. I refuse to pay what they charge for that canna-specific fertilizer bull shit.
Do you know how they determine a NPK? It is by % of actual weight. So 100 lbs. of a 10-10-10 NPK is 10 lbs. of Actual N, P,K and 70 lbs. inactive ingredients.
So yes, RM3's makes plenty of sense to me. This Cola was grown with the 20-20-20 all the way through. I even used such a high dose UB was surprised.

Not arguing or knocking your outstanding results.
Simply stating it IS because of your 20-10-20 that you have no Phosphorous deficiencies like others ! LOL
And never recalled saying I never heard of Peters, just that you don't see it in hydro stores where MOST growers shop.
Pump ya defensive breaks fellas !! lol

UB, your knowledge and skills preceed you ! +REP
But I'm also too much of an Alpha male to be on someone's jock as much as some ppl.
Give props, dap, a pound, kudos, etc. and keep it moving.

My GH Flora does me and my 9+oz C99's SINGLE PLANT dry harvest just fine.
But that's DWC too, and not soil/soilles.

I guess I don't see what that has to do with the other posters' question? Just because you don't get a P deficiency using 20-10-20, why does that mean that he doesn't have a phosphorus deficiency? It's pretty clearly P.

Would you call this Nitrogen or Phosphorous deficiency ?

How about neither !
Genetics from a 100% landrace Purple Chitrali I grew a year ago on Breedbay, thanks to Breeders Choice/HotHouse Flowers.
Same for the Pure Purple Pakistani I got from them, AND the Magic Monkey F1's I made using Gorilla Grape x Magic Merlin ( both by Outlaw Grower and BOTH are half Double Purple Doja that's in my sig now).
Still have lots of F1's and F2's of all 5 above strains too ! hehe
I had to move and couldn't finish posting the thread but I have some bud pics around here somewhere.

To kill any doubt, check the purple goo inside the stems where I topped them.
My scissors have nice purple "syrup" on them afterwards !! Mmmm
Notice the beautiful purple stems ?
Yet my leaves are gorgeous and the leaf veins are too.

They are all in 0.5gal Air Pots that were later unwrapped and easily transplanted into larger 7.5L / 2gal Air Pots.

Those plants look great. Sorry if I came off rude. I hate to see anyone spend extra money if they can save some cash. You switch avatars like a stripper changes G-strings.

I'll check out some of those sig links.

This goes out to anyone who can answer from experience or just personal knowledge. I'm far from a noob, have about 15 grows under my belt, but recently have run into some clonning problems. I use an easy cloner ( 2x60 site )and been messing with some different strains and out of 60 I would get like 15 to 20. So I went to my local Hydro store and picked up a bottle of NITREX. I am implementing this into my normal feedings for my mothers. Since it is important for the mother to have a high nitrogen level when taking clones, I figured this couldnt hurt. Any coments or suggestions?????? Thanks.

Who told you it's important to have a high nitrogen level for cloning?

The guy selling him the nitrex silly.
A well fed donor does make for better cuts.
Honestly, I've always backed off on my nutrients in the week prior to cloning. I make sure to thoroughly water the mothers about an hour before taking cuttings, and I get almost 100% success rate. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that my experience has been opposite.
