Week old plant. Pointers please?

My plant is approx. 1 week old now and is around 4 to 5 inches tall.

-Is this progress normal?

The stem/roots seem a bit weak, so the plant is prone to leaning a bit. I just introduced a standard box fan to my room because I read that it encourages root/stem growth.

-Will the fan help?
-Is there a main underlying reason for weak plant support?

Right now I have it under a 150w HPS about 3 4 feet away. I also water it every day with a few squirts from a spray bottle. It is currently residing in a pint container of icecream.

-Should the lights be further/closer for ideal growth?
-Should I water the plant less often so that the roots have to stretch to look for water, therefore strengthening its support system?
-Is there anyway to know if a plant's roots have outgrown its container and when should I transplant it to my 7gal pot? (Was a bit stoned and overly ambitious at the gardening store)

I'm keeping it currently on a fluctuating light cycle (dependent on my own sleep cycle because the grow closet isn't light sealed and is located in my room).

-Is this bad for the plant? Can I just keep it on a 24 hour cycle? (It's an autoflowering strain so photoperiod doesn't matter much)

-Anybody know where I can get a really cheap timer to auto turn it on aand off?

Thanks in advance, guys. Finished this post just in time for 420 :eyesmoke:

Yes fans help make them strengthen their stem and branches, not sure if it also helps the roots. I will say, make sure you don't over water, I always pick mine up to feel the weight to see if it's getting light. It will help keep gnats away and help prevent root rot.

Signs that it needs to be re-potted. I've noticed the dirt will pull away from the edge of my containers, you will notice you need to water more often. when you've waited too long the bottom leaves of the plant will start to yellow and drop.

Timer.. For years I used the heavy duty timers you can get at any home depot/home improvement store.

Great drawing btw :)
