POTS or HOLES? with soil

This outdoor grow I was planning on doing both. But I am still debateing. (I'm doing happyfrog and perlite and will b fertilizing and they will have lots of attention with watering, if any of that is an issue or factor)

But my real cause of this thread is your facts or opinions on this debate.

Pots or no pots?

But this is outdoor so When I say pots I mean 20gallon trashcans
Which I already have so it won't cost me anything.

Or should I dig holes and fill with my soil mix?

If I dig holes. What is the issue with once the roots hit past ur soil mix they can shock??
What size should it b? Deepness? And circumference.

I would say no pots(but thats just me) I would dig the hole about the size of a 20 gallon pot and fill with your dirt, I would be surprised if you had to fert it with in the first two weeks. I cant say for sure about the shock once they get through your soil>

im using 5 gal buckets... take metal handle off... paint a dull green.. i mean DULL... then take a black.. and make a few spots here and there.. then a few brown spots here and there... then put up in the bushes.. i swear you can't see it... idk from the sky.. but if you get nervouse just burry the 5 gallon bucket... there cheap.. actually alot of people will give them to you.. far as digging the hole.. to me... i chose not to do that cause i wanted to be able to move my plants without having to worry about up rooting the plant... also.. the best part NO DIGGING.. if you top it.. then use lst *im doing the lst no topping* it stays low enough without you having to worry about it getting to tall....

Thanks a lot but I think you are completely misunderstanding my meaning of thiis post,
I am not looking for a descret grow. It is a controlled grow that isn't hidden. And I am asking this because I want to no no what would be better got growtha and health of my plant

And in no way do I ever wanna keep my plant short for the outdoor season

and one thing i have seen done is putting a board at the bottom of your hole to help keep water close to the plant and I believe would help keep your roots with in your dirt or at-least for a time until they grow outward instead of down. are you going to put a half moon screen over them?(for Scrog)

In my opinion, it all depends on the environment. I have a really swampy area in my back yard, so i put them in pots there. But in other areas i just dig a hole about 2ft squared, and fill with soil. (Although you may want to go bigger, my dirt in the back is actually quite adequate as is.) Good luck!

If you want 12 ft monsters, you ought to put them in the ground. Bigger the hole, the better. I believe I've read that the Max size the root system of cannabis gets is 6ft wide x 8ft deep (but that's for At Least 12 ft plants) It's kind of pointless to use huge ass pots instead, cause the only pros I see to pots is that they can be moved and they (slightly) deter critters. But once you fill up a 5 or 10 gallon pot with soil, it becomes a lot less mobile. Not to mention once you've got a huge plant in there, and lots of water. And if you're planning on filling up 20 gallon trashcans, you wont be moving them without a hand truck, and even that will be a pain. Go in the ground, dig 'em about 3x3, more if you have the time. But the bigger the holes, the more expensive it is.

i had a monster in a 5 gal bucket. i moved it inside cause it reaked my area up ( it was barneys farm lsd...crack in other words). I moved it indoors and took 4 clones the length of my ARM just because it was touching the light that we recessed into the cieling. monsters come everywhere, its good genetics that make it possible, not the size if your hole, that helps your yield though, or so i have come to find. If these sentences arnt making sense sorry, im really high right now, but ummm ya im putting a few more girls out today, half in 5 gal buckets half in the ground, well have a nice comparison anyone down for the ride...thread...starting.....now

I do admit I'm not the most experienced with growing in containers, except for small 3-4 ft plants, but it seems to me the amount you'd be watering and feeding a large plant in a 5 gallon container would be so much more. I'm a guerilla person, so I go for least visits as possible. I guess I'm just oblivious to the idea of being able to grow it in my backyard. I also believe all genetics are good, and it's the sun and the grower who makes the plant big, strong, and full of resin at the end. (Can't say that for ruderalis cause I've never grown.) Also, the amount of genetic variety in one batch of bagseed is amazingly high, and can produce seeds that are easily on the same shelf as all the name brands. Compare to wine grapes and apples, we have Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah, etc. only because of clone, their seeds would never be pure, but there are growers who find new, delicious varieties in those seeds. Apples the same...really, most varieties of apples are bitter and gross, but great for liquor. But we clone each and every Pink Lady, Braeburn, Gala, etc. to get the same tasty apples. Their seeds wont give you the same. Anyhow, that's great you're doin' the comparison, would love to see it. Happy Grows.

ya i see your point, i was just saying monsters arnt only outside lol. I also vegged it for the month outside then about 2.5 more months inside then flower for a little over 90 days

these pix may help ya . i do pots and in ground and have had problems in ground but like someone said already it depends alot on environment..These pics are of two of the same 2 bagseeds 1)in ground plant. 2) plant in container next to in ground plant. 3) in ground plant in bloom. 4) container plant in bloom. 5)in ground veg... Also i am growing more of this bagseed this year , and once again all females so far !?
