Ice Water at Late Flowering=Crazy Fall Colors

I am pretty new here, hay. I am in late flowering and have dropped low temps to 60 at night . I am also giving its feeding really cold. I have seen this done out west in greenhouses to cause purpling and colouration.

It really worked instantly. Most plants went purple, blue and even blackish. A casey jo is turning redish and pink.

I would recommend this But I have heard it slows growth. I wish I had a camera to show you the black. I heard after the flush this will turn to a nice dark purp.

ANYONE ELSE DO THIS

No but I have my autoflowers growing in water just as cool. They aren't growing fast, and the emerging leaves come out purple before they turn green, so you may have something there...

When the plant gets cold, it can't utilize Phosphorous as well, and it causes discolorations in the foliage and petioles. If extreme, it can spread to the main stem as well. I love some of the colors that I've seen in marijuana. I wish I could finish off my plants in 60 degree weather :)

lol thats strain not cold rain. and im talking about indoor. outdoor deeper roots can have cold water

thats why exotic colorful plants evolve near the equator and deep rooted sturdy plants grow in the cold.

and the plants in the pic look like they were cut early. too much stem

It's the same thing I grow indoors as well, only indoors it doesn't turn colors because I only use room temp water.
It's a sativa dominant strain. No clue what, as I don't buy into all those 'Hollywood' names the younger people do.

I know this my man i like the looks and if it turns that purple knowing NOT all change as much as others then if i want that deep of a color change i would most likely have good luck with the strain turning real purple.

Nope it's real, for the reasons Serapis described.

You probably wouldn't want to do it throughout the better part of flowering period but I don't see a problem in this for the last week or two. Several days ago somebody was asking about the purple strains and why everyone wants them and blah blah blah... I sarcastically told him to turn his AC down between 50 and 60 degrees. No one would listen.

Dude if you dont like what the THREAD starter has to say stay off his thread or stick some plants out in the cold and see what happens then start your own shooting down the idea. Then you call me out and talk about posts i can see two of yours of you being a ass look at all my posts im a nice guy and open minded you might want to try it:-)

I so agree and if you have can keep the temps at 70-72 degrees the plant will show color change it happened to my buddy his room at night the last few was 50 degrees and 70-72 when lights on

Agree with the guy that says cold water treatment dont work and the guy who posted this thread was full of shit:wall: Different strains from different parts of the world will change differently just wanted to know what was in that guys bud so i could try to find something like it and try my hand on some crazy purple. Ive done it with white widow and it turned red on the branches thats all so yeah bout that not all plants turn into a freak show like that, that pic is just amazing.

What strains have people had luck with getting them to look like that. "should start a list"bongsmilie

I built a greenhouse last year and flowered in it over the winter.
Watering is automated and the res hit temps in the 50"s even with a heater.

Here are a couple shots of hindu kush skunk. normally there is no purple at all.






Some headband





And my spring harvest is just now finishing, silver Jack,



These plants have no purple or red in them under normal conditions the cool temps has colored them so yea, I think ice water would do it.

I'm going to give this a shot in the last 10 days or so of flowering in my current grow for sure. Maybe on one plant, just for show.

I figure I'll take my standard 68ish degree solution and drop it to 48ish.

Interesting theory I think.
