How to Top Plants?

"Doingfine", I appreciate the posted picture of topping, it really shows what to do, so the plant that you topped is the one on the bottom and that is the growth after two days it grew about 3/4 of an inch or an inch? after two days after you topped it? so that is new growth on both sides of the place you topped it? I just topped mine yesterday about the same stag as the one you have shown and mine hasn't done anything since doing it except the new growth every place else, Example: like leaf growth and new growth near the stem were the leaves come of the stem or main khola or cola, but no growth on either side of the place I topped it and she has been growing very well & growing strong except in the place where I expected it to grow. So is there anything I should do? or just give it time. If anyone can help me on this It would be much appreciated, thank You, BB2112

well I topped mine like the guy lemonz posted and he removed a node off his plant with the camera in his hand and he broke off the node well I think I did exactly what he did and now my plant isn't growing back around were I cut it off. I would show you a picture of what I did but it is hard to get a quality shot of my plant with my camera because it won't focus that close when I try to get a detailed shot it is too blurry. I think I removed the main khola on the plant off which it looked like he did. I will try to take a before pic I had and then show you a new pic of what i did. give me about 10 minutes. thanks for answering. BB2112

i took a pretty good picture of what I did. It is right in the middle of the picture at the top I broke the main khola off like he did I think but will it grow around it or did I f**k it up? don't sugar coat it just tell me did I f**k it up? IMG_3725.jpg It is hard to see but see the little nub sticking up it the very center of the plant in the open area? that was the main khola but I think I cut it off instead of the node but I have two new growth on both sides of it but the are the little ones and they don'tIMG_3706.jpg have that main stem bulk to it they look more like leaves growing out not new pieces of main stem or khola. Here is another one before i did itIMG_3704.jpg it's hard to see but if you follewed the main stem all the way up and it branches off the main stem always has the uneven texture to it like lines and it is thicker and rougher than the leaf stems and I broke off the one with the lines or rough texture on it the main stem at the top of the plant. so is she topped for good or will the plant keep growing up by growing around it. please help I think I f**ked up!!!! but it looked like exactly what that guy did Lemonz post on how to remove the node and it looked the same after he did his mine looked exactly like his. Anyway please let me know if you can see anything. Thank You, BB2112.
the second picture out of the 3 on this post is the one you can see it the best that nub sitting there all by itself is the broken off main stem. the plant looks droupy in the picture but now it is very perky and all standing up nice and strong but it stopped growing any taller. As you can see there is some new growth on both sides but are those going to take over for the main stem or khola being cut off? Thanks!!! BB2112

IMG_3736.JPGIMG_3733.JPGI just found out how to make the settings on my camera to take better close ups, so these two may help even better. After looking at these pictures on my camera close up and detailed those 2 new growths on either side of the nub that I cut off seem to have that stem like look to them even at this size or age, so maybe I didn't f**k it up. I don't know I would still like to have your reassurance, "doingfine" I appreciate the help. Thank You, BB2112!!!!

That guy seemed pretty sure of himself and he was topping them as seedlings. As I look at mine now it looks like I have new growth new stem growth on three sides of were I cut off the node. So I think I may be ok. I hope!! Did you see his (Lemonz) video post about how to top the plants? He seemed very sure about what he was doing and his crop looked pretty sucessful. Thank you though for your time and I think I am ok. Well take it easy and happy growing!!!! BB2112! mine is about 8 inches tall now and I planted them at about 5 inches, about 2 weeks ago!! alot of people say not to do it while it is flowering but then some say that it doesn't matter so I guess it is up to how you feel. Good luck!!!!!

Hey Lemonz, I wanted to ask you a question about that video you posted on topping by removing the nodes!!! I did exactly what you did on your video and would it be normal or abnormal to get 3 sprouts were the old main khola was after I topped it. Because i have 3 places of new growth after i topped it and they all are starting to grow IMG_3736.JPGwith the look of being the new stems. Could you look at this picture and tell me whether I did it right? when I topped it, or removed them node?IMG_3733.JPG enlarge it and you can see it much clearer. If you could reply I would appreciate it. I am a fairly new grower and that video you posted, you looked like you knew eaxctly what you were doing and I want to learn hiow to get as much from one plant as possible, as you said burning bushes man. you didn't sound like a dick either. you sounded like you were trying to get what you knew across to a much talked about subject. So I think I did it correctly but if you could let me know if I F**ked up. was I supposed to cut off the main part or top of the khola? and then they will grow on either side correct? Thanks if and when you have time. Thank You, BB2112!!!!

If anyone knows if I should worry about this please let me know. Thanks for everything in advance!

I actually tried to fim the plant so that bushy growth wasn't really there after I cut, it just grew back in, you can see the two branches that were pointing upwards before I cut it and thats where the weird growth is coming in on the tip that was cut... I didn't think that it was possible for anything to grow back off a cut branch?.. I'm baffled lol I'm actually happy that the little bushy part is growin again now that the sides took off

yes you did it fine it looks good mate its up to you were you chop as long as there are new shoots under where you chop it you can chop it anywhere. your plant is going to be a burning bush lol. By the way thats not me in the video its just the guy in the video helped me out when i first started topping my plants. now when the 3 new shoots of growth get big enough you can top them again if you want to.

How do you know when your female plant has been pollenated? what is going to happen! If she doesn't get pollenated, I know then you have a sinsemillia crop without seeds! do I want her to get pollenated?

Is that such a dumb question that no one will answer it for me? I am sorry but that is why I am on here, to learn. Please if someone would answer this, it would be really cool because I really don't know and I would like to know and learn everything I can possibly learn. Thank You!!! BB2112.

hey brett - it is tough to know if a female has been pollinated until harvest - the result is that you will have seeds - without pollen you get no seeds at all and it is a much better smoke - if you want to harvest seeds for later then you want a male plant nearby to pollinate.. got it?

i came to this thread because i learned this year that there is a better method than topping - if you simply tie the main cola down sideways it will produce new cola tops - you can even do this multiple multiple times where if you top then you actually lose a cola.. i have seen this method in action and it is beautiful - wide, low plants with numerous tops..!
