When should I see sex??

I have 6 plants. 3 Of them are 9" tall at 5 weeks old, and 3 of them are 12" tall at 6 weeks old. I do not see any signs of sex yet. Is there a particular week that they should start to show? I do not have any pics to post yet.
Oh yeah, I have the lights on 16 hrs, off 8 hrs and think I have about 300w of cfl on them (twisty bulbs).

dont go 12/12 or endless ur ready to flower.
give 24 hrs of darkness and roll the lights back one hr,sex will show within a wk.

This is done during veg?

Could you please explain further - roll the lights back one hour?

I am currently vegging at 24 hrs day light. Seedlings are 4 weeks old and I would like to eliminate the males as early as possible. Thanks!

they will usually take about 8 weeks to show sex in veg,so give um about another 3 weeks and then you should know whats what,,,you can ofcourse force flowering now by changing there light schedule to 12/12.peace

Thanks for your quick response.

I was not aware that the plants could show sex during veg. Is that true? i hate to lose the time to go to flower to force sex and return to veg. So you are saying that just stay in veg for 8 weeks and plants will show sex?

when should you see sex........ about 3 or 4 min after you give her the money ... If you wait any longer I'd ask for a refund .....LOL cheers

*yes during the end cycle of the veg stage.
you posted you had the lights on a 16/8(I said to roll it back one hr 15/7)
darkness sets off a chemical inside of the plant to produce sex and the flowering stage.(as I sure you know)
Ive always started out with with a 20/4 cycle then 16/8 then 12/12
No, you do not need to veg for 2 months, that's bad advice you got:spew:
you technically could start from seed and go str8 to flowering and end up with a cute lil mini plants.-not worth the time, but can be done.
The "normal" grow cycle is 4 wks for veg and 8 wks for flowering-this can change because of lighting and environment.

your plants will show sex in veg if left in veg for about 8 weeks,,,,,you can force flowering at any time,,,minimum recommended time is 4weeks.

My 5 week seedlings are vegging currently at 24/0. I think you have me confused with another poster.

You are recommending that I switch to 20/4 now?

When do I switch to 18/6?

Then when I want to determine sex I should give them 24 hrs complete darkness and then put lights at 15/9? Thanks!

if you had pic , that would help....at 5 wks I'd put them into flowering today.
they will still grow upright for about 2 wks before it shows any flowers.
you can flower at any point after germ. I started out with 20/4 and 2 wks later 18/6(depends on strain also) 2 wks later I start flowering cycle.
In pic I only veg for 3 wks and they still grew another 15inchs in height after 12/12

how big were these after the 3 weeks veg?

after the first 2 wks, they shot up like crazy and were 12+" tall by the end of wk three(height is because of strain,bagseed)
photo was taken um 4th wk into flower,they really filled out and I ended up with about 40 grams per plant and harvest at the 12th/14th wk.
The grow I have going now, is an indoor mix I bought.most of the plants are alot shorter(unknown strains) I'm into the sec wk of flowering and the way they look, I bet my yeld would have been more then photo above.-doing a controlled seed grow this time around!buying seeds at these crazy prices really sucks!

your plants look like they aint gettin enuf light man.. they just look streched.

how tall are they m8 coz the pic is misleading..

joepro ,if n when u decide to flower and you find you have a female just take cuttings frm it then you will always have female plants.. i take my cuttings two weeks in2 flower coz ive only got 1 grow room and i dont like them to be waiting too long b4 there added to room.

i usually veg in grow room with 24/7 lighting for 3-4 wks depending on there size (15 inch max) then go straight in2 12/12 with no probz..

in my journal you will see my plants and there 2wks in2 flower just now and the biggest is almost 29 inches.. its a monster lol... i had to shorten my veg time coz it was growing to big to quick.
the rest are catching up nicely now though..

im not an expert but ive always grown this way and it works for me.

almost forgot lol.... i try to keep my lights about 16-24inches away at all times... if the plant grows an inch raise the light an inch.. if you raise the light too much you will get streched plants and that aint great coz no doubt you want big compact budz instead of small bits here n there..

me? six plants under 1 400 watt and 1 600 watt.
they dont look streched at all- size of unknown(im thining outdoor)strain
I dont have meany pic of that grow but here another photo of a main cola off of a plant that was pulled way to early,10th wk(I ran out of bud and I'm not about to buy any!)
nice think tight buds my friend AT 10 WKS, nothing streched about it

nope all from seed...I'm going to start a clone cycle soon-like the harvest every 2 wks post,what a great thread if you havent read yet.
