aquamist, white widow, purple kush

Hi everyone I’m a new grower; I am hoping I can draw on the experience of the growers on this forum to help me through a few questions with my first grow.
I have a couple of auqamist 1 areoponic units; I’m not sure how often I should turn on the misters or for how long?
I am growing White Widow and Purple Kush using gh nutrients, are their any tips for growing these stains?
I am planning to cut a hole in the floor of my grow room to draw the cool air from under the house. Is this a good idea? Should I use some sort of insecticide before I vent into the grow room?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

hi mate,

first off, keep the system running 24/7.

the ww will yield the best results if you top the plant, will also be a bit bushier than the purple kush so will need a little more space. This is due to the fact that P kush is an indica, whereas ww is an indica/sativa mix (40/60) so will take up more room. Recommend that if you wish to achieve the classic dusting of crystals the plant is famous for then best to flower for 10 weeks instead of 8 - also turn down lights to 8 hours a day for these last two weeks, draws out all the plant's potential. ww has been a continual Cannabis Cup winner over the years - you will not be disappointed.

the purple kush is so named beause a cold snap towards the end of the flowering period which may turn the plant purple. The plant produces Anthocyanin - which produces a purple hew as the plant's chlorophyll breaks down. Kush will produce far less in amount than the ww, but will be a top grade smoke straight from the Hindu Kush (means "defeat" or "subdue").

Important NOT to top this plant as it will produce one main cola - from which most of the yield will come from. Branches may need support towards the end of flowering. Excellent plant for SCROG or SOG.

as for the vent - i would not use any chemicals if you do not have to.
make the hole and then fit a filter to the ducting coming in, will stop insects fro invading your grow room. Needs to be fine enough to filter out spider mites at least, i believe some even trap fungal spores.

rememer, when changing nutes in system always scrub down the sides of the container or res, as chemicals will gather and settle on the side.

Hope this helps

it depends on the strain, some benefit some do not.

always best to read the breeder's info, and as many other sources as poss before starting to grow.

I disagree strongly with running the system 24/7. The pump will take your res temps too high and your roots love to breathe. I run 15 min per hour. There is a timer available at wal-mart that you just push in a pin out of every 4 to accomplish this. I would flower small, maybe a week or two from clone to avoid overcrowding.

I found your info on the PK and WW very informative, mainly about the topping and not topping. Here is my question, what would you recommend for a PK:WW cross? Would topping and bushing or not topping ans SoG make for a better quality? New grower here as well, indoor soil is the medium. Also I assume since it is a Purple Kush cross, it should purple out some with a cold snap right? When is best to introduce the cold enviroment? in those last 2 weeks when you go to 8 hours? Also would the 8 hours the last 2 weeks like you mentioned for the WW be appropriate...i assume since its a cross yes. I am more interested about topping or not, since one you suggested to and the other was a pretty strong dont do it! Much mahalo for your time!
