My First Grow, Easy Rider, Tent Set Up, Please Help

Nice looking set up ozgirl, I am subbed. I will be interested to see how the plants do in the high temps you have to deal with. I am in Texas and it gets very hot here as well. I am 5 weeks in to my first indoor grow, but I have a/c in the area where the tent is, so I can control it pretty well.

I have read many conflicting ideas by different growers about what temperatures are the best for mj plants. Some say 72F is ideal cooling to 60F when lights out. Some say 85F when lights on and down to 72F at night. I also read that the most important thing is to have a swing from daytime(lights on) temps to night time of 10 to 15 degrees F. Obviously it has to be somewhat strain dependent since different strains come from different climates all over the world. Maybe the key is to find the strains that like it hot, i don't really know. I am certainly no expert.

I think part of your journal is missing for some reason... don't really know. I have two questions. First, did you get your seeds yet? Second, what did you decide to do about when you run your light? sns

Thanks smokenstrum. Firstly no I dont have any seeds yet :-(, I have been waiting a while for seeds from amsterdam, 2 lots actually (easy rider & pride of amsterdam) and on thursday just gone I ordered more from attitude in UK ( 2 x fem laughing buddah, and 4 fem white widdow x big bud) since alot of people here seem to have success with them, and they offer guaranteed shipping. Im sick of spending so much on seeds and still not having any.

With the temps in the tent for now I unzip the middle zip in the tent at around 9.30 and wrap the tent doors around the pedestal until 11 when I turn off the light, it makes a huge difference.
Im not great with c/f conversion, but I do know 86 f is 30c, for the most part my tent has been ranging from 22c to 28c until morning hits and it was rising up heaps, but now keep it at 30c to 31c during that hour, and from what I've read I should be keeping it under 32c, so that is my goal.

I added some pics from inside my shed just to show how the roof is raised, and there is lots of trees all around so I have good ventilation in here, I would never attempt this in the average garden shed in QLD.

OH I am sooooooooo happy with the plant growth in the last few days, there has been an explosion of growth right throughout the nodes from top to bottom, and it is getting greener bigger and stronger by the day now, im tossing up the idea of topping but not sure yet.

Oh and also in the last few days I took out the cd player and she gets to sleep to the soothing sounds of nature :-P has it helped.......I dunno, but something sure has, and its obviously not hurting so I will continue.SDC10990.jpgSDC10998.jpgSDC10992.jpgSDC10999.jpgSDC10996.jpgSDC10995.jpg

I've decided it would be crazy not to take advantage of my crazy overgrown back paddock, so I have picked a great spot and started to prep the holes, im trying to grow a monster like 04ausername did
I have 2 huge holes, they dont seem to look as big in the pic though, one of them already has a layer of fish, we have 1 small bullshark, 8 cat fish, I eel and a 33 cm bream in it, and has been covered over a few inches of soil.
We got lucky today, so tomorrow the other hole has 2 big carp, and a selection of catfish, and small boney bream.
The hole will then be filled with a mixture of horse poo, chicken poo, sandy soil, and compost. Then the holes will sit and brew for 3 months.

Down the track I will start a seperate grow journal for this grow, but since its a while away, I thought I would just start here.
The photos are the holes, and the view that the plants will have.SDC11004.jpgSDC11001.jpgSDC11002.jpgSDC11003.jpgSDC11000.jpg

Hey there Ozzy ;P

sorry im a bit late in replying to your shed photo's, hey i like it how the roof is raised that will most definately help you out, i must say your tent seems fine with me, what is it you say you dont like about it?, as ya know i run a growlush tent and they are sweet as, could do with with 3 fan ports but thats just me.
This laughing Buddah sounds interesting, i will go read up on it now :) WW/BB should be a great grow, i do love the WW smoke.

Thats great ya got ya bloke and ya brother to help with all the fish nutes haha, lol its going to be a great thread for sure!!!.
and by the way if thats what they go installed for them, then that 'view' is null and void!! get ya self a 13ft extention ladder and go lean it up against something and climb to the top, now that will be a realistic view hahaha :D

My tent is ok, but even just a little larger would have been better for me, especially since I have the room. Oh and it doesnt have a light sealing flap over every inlet hole, but I guess I can figure something out for that soon.

And lmao about the ladder comment, thats what im hoping for, apparently this strain (laughing buddah) can get as large as 2m to 2 1/2m high, should be fun, however I'll be aiming to make it as bushy as possible, and keep it under 2m or it could be seen from my house backyard. And if I can get the 2 going that I want I will practice some lst on one of them.

Do you or anyone else have experience with plants and chooks. I have 6 chooks and that paddock is all theirs, im wondering If I should run some chicken wire around the plants when they go in.

Hi Ozgirl, I hope it's going well. Bump for an update. What's a chook? sns:leaf:

Hi smoke n strum, a chook is a chicken lol. That may just be aussie slang, but its what I've always called them. Will be getting the camera out this arv for some new pics.

LOL sns, I love my chickens, great pets, and lots of fresh good eggs :)

Anyway, its time for an update. it has now been 2 weeks and 5 days since my little girl started out. I have tried to get clear photos but my camera is useless. I wanted to show how there is another 4 tips growing at the top, and so many side branches coming out from all the nodes, im really starting to feel good about this plant.

Oh and also, I know its not real clear but one of the pics is showing how there is a reddish/purplish line running from the tip of the fan leaf stem to the base, all the large fan leaves have this, does anyone know if this is strain related, or maybe something else, I only just discovered this today.

My girl has been getting 3 hrs of the relaxing sounds of nature cd everyday at lights out, and for now I have started misting with plain water at the same time to try and keep her moist. My humidity is higher today but it has been around 30% in the tent for the last week.
And she is still being fed with fish emulsion and seasol, in organic soil. I have not touched my expensive nutes :)

ooops, forgot to mention, one of my chooks died 3 days ago, she has been burried deep down a hole which we are considering growing a plant in, just have to find out how long to let it sit for before using it.

Hi ozgirl, your plant looks nice and healthy, The plants I have also have purple stems on the fan leaves. I don't know if it's strain related or not, but I would not worry as long as you keep the leaves green and healthy all is well. Sorry about your chook. Any seeds yet? sns:leaf:

Well it seems everything is great one minute, and the next there is an issue. Firstly the dam gnats are back, so im going to get some h202 today and treat it at a mix of 1 part h202 and 4 parts water, it will kill all fungas gnat larvae immediatley, and give the plant a good oxygen boost at the same time.

And I have just had to do a flush with water, I very slowly added 3 x the pots size of water, as obviously the new potting soil had a salt build up, as the leaves started to look dry, some of the leaves edges started to turn up, and some weird yellow looking spots appeared on a few leaves, she has only ever had 2 feeds of fish emulsion and seasol so it wasn't overfeeding on my part, and after much reading the symtoms matched exactly to a reaction of overfeeding or being in soil with a salt build up, and a leech/flush was suggested.

Otherwise growth still seems good, and to my shock thismorning I discovered little root tips trying to poke out of the drainage holes, the lights are out now until 4 so I have to figure out something by then, was thinking maybe cut some little squares of black plastic and stick it over the holes without securing it on the bottom so it doesnt restrict drainage but keeps the light of the roots.
Its only been a few days since I transplanted into this large pot, I just cant believe how quickly the roots are growing.

Is there any organic fertilizer in the soil? What is your soil made up of? sns
