Ill start off by introducing myself as J.Reid, a Michigan Medical Marijuana Patient. As I stated I am new to rollitup which is actually the first forum site I have ever joined so Im lookin for a warm welcome as I kick off my First grow journal ever with all of you as my audience. Before I get started I'd like to say that I appreciate any advice, hints and poiners I can get. Enough of the small talk, Lets get down to business..!

~Strain: Cheese( clones from a compassion center, obviously not the "original")

~Plant Count: 6 plants potted in 5gal Smartpots. Must mention I have lined the pots with mollassas and coated them with cane sugar. I may add 4 more in 2gal pots once these have vegged a bit. They will all be on the same flower period just the 4 a bit smaller.(would like some input on this idea considering my grow space.

~Soil & Nutrients: I am using straight HappyFrog pottng soil and top dressing it with earthworm casting. For nutrients I am using General Hydroponics General Organic line BioThrive. I am using the complete nute line. Will also be adding big up from Humbolt come flower. Watering with store bought distilled water with a PH of right about 6.0

GROW SPACE!!: 4'x8'x6.5' grow tent housing 2 1000w HPS lamps focussed over 4x6' of the area(both slid down more towards the left side). I also have a 840w mixture of 6500k, 2700k, and a some red and blue CFLs dangling low throughout the tent. Sitting in the back right corner is a 12"x48" Phat Philter equipped with a 12" ActiveAir inline fan(filter-fan-duct-light-duct-light- duct out).

Air, Temp, Humidity: I have a GREAT amount of fresh outside air coming in from a window boosted by a box fan. Also Have a wall insert AC unit that will blow directly into the tent if needed once summer rolls around. I am having no problems with temp, I can keep it anywhere I want as low as 63F with both 1000s running although I have been maintaining it around 73-75F. Humidity stays around 42%.


I hope I havent bored anyone with all this info but I was trying to be very discriptive. I have some pictures from the clones when I recieved them up until present time so I will get them posted shortly. Im a little new to this.

Wow Thanks for the quick reply and welcoming me to RIU. Gonna go search some threads! maybe ill find somethin on cheese or chiesel. considering Big Buddha's Cheese or Chiesel for my next grow if i dont keep this genetic i have around.

good luck on the grow. Curious why u would do this?

I opt to add molasses to my watering during flowering, but why have u lined ur pots as u stated during veg, & what do u think the benefit is?

I had a fella at the local grow shop recomend that use of the mollassas and sugar and his theory was that in the smartpots the roots should be hitting the sides of the pots sometime in the flower stage and he says the buds will just blow up when the hit it. I thought i would add mollassas to the water like you are saying in addidition to what i have now come late flower and maybe once during flush, no? I just figured i would give his idea a try. like i stated its my first real grow so im experimenting. thanks for posting

Medical, I already get what ur saying, with all that fresh are comin in without being filtered. sounds like ill need a small carbon filter to filter the air intake? any other suggestions? thanks

I should mention that I actually semi grew 2 NL plants in a 4x4' tent with a 400w b4 but i only got 2 weeks into bloom b4 i had to tare it apart and move so i sold it all and now im trying to do it right. i grew in a bubbleponic set up before with GH nutes and tap water

well in the future, I would not go by someones "theory" if they havent tried it one or more times, maybe he had & confirmed that with u?
absolutely u can still add ur molasses to water once flowering.

Sounded like a good idea as a noob and he seemed to have used it himself. I topped these six plants today and turned them imto clones. any input or advie is appreciated. They were all around 12-14 nodes tall and I cut them 4 nodes down. Will get pics up tomorrow asap!

gonna try to get some pics goin here. give me a min. think i got now lol. was havin issues with camera to comp transfer.

the plant in the middle was Sour Diesel but I gave it to my cousin because i want to stick to one strand at a time instead of mixin it up. i think thats where more go wrong by havin a 4x4 or 4x8 tent with 6 diff strains in it...

So I intend to take 4 of these what are now clones and throw them in as smaller plants with my 6 main shrubs. The girls where alot bigger when i topped em then they were in those photos.

Also looking for any info i can find on these nutes im using. been reading thru the Organic section heavily.

Welcome buddhalover425. Thanks, I may need a little luck. I was interested in some Arjan's also but wanted to stick to 1 strain in my room. hopfully a little easier

Welcome Bilderberg. Thanks for the comment. Everyone I know around me that use soils still use like usuall the FoxFarm trio or the GH trio or B.C. trio. i just wanted to make sure my girlfriends are getting a more complete number of nutes. slthough im sure I am still lacking here or there but Ill work to get it all figured out. Kinda like a big science project. gotta get me a PPM meter and a way to test my soils PH and temp. i PH my nute solution but havent a way to check my soil. using straight HappyFrog. I have some ideads for some diff soil mix next time still using the happyfrog which is like FFoF with a little less nutes and its organic

a pic of the nute line. made by GHydroponics its the General Organics line. 8 liquids, I am missing the 2 powders but am goin to get them on my next trip to the grow shop.

Got a few pics to add hre. Plants starting to take back off after topping them. I can really see a difference in their growth patter and shape since topping.

The tops i cut off and put into riot cubes are still lookin pretty good, no scary changes.

So I think im starting to get a nitrogen defficancy but I have no close up pics atm. Ill try to get some up tomorrow.

Anyone have a good basic formula to follow for veg as far as NPK goes? At the moment im only 7.2-7-6.3
I ordered a PPM meter so I am anxios to get that so I can giv these hoes optimum nutes. Also have a NPK test.kit comin.
