That does make sense to me. I'm gonna try this sometime soon, so if anybody has anymore great tips like the ones above, i would really appreciate it. and also if anyone has any good bubble bag tricks on how to mix it or dry it better please let me know.

after much though for a press maybe using a rolling pin, place materil in cheese cloth very loosley so not to mush through the side and give it a good rollin, no pun intended lol

Thanks again for all the compliments guys!!![/QUOTE]

damnnnnnn. niceeeeeeee!!!!!!
Thanks man!!! she sure is a sugar coated bitch!!!

hey bro, i think you can probably handle a pre-butter smoke ;) . but yes, it's true depending on your metabolism it takes between 45 minutes and 2 hours to "start" feeling the effects of eating cannabutter, and the effects can last anywhere between 2 and 4 hours depending on the strength. it's perfect for going to a concert or a movie, eat it before you take off (it won't affect you during transportation, and then BAM!) lol.

basically i use about 5-6 grams of vaporizer left over to about 2/3 stick of butter. that makes 4-5 doses for myself. my link explains it in detail, but basically you boil water, butter, and the trim (as ground up as you can have it) on low heat for at least an hour, ideally 2 hours, keep adding water little by little so that the butter doesn't burn. then let it cool for a few minutes, pass it through a cheese cloth into a tupperware, pressing it with your hands/gloves, discard the solids, and store the tupperware overnight in the fridge. the next morning, the greenish butter separates and rises from the nasty water left-over, and you just pop out the butter and serve :)

and i *knew* there was something special about those two last pics ;)
I never knew it was so easy to make i am really gonna try it soon! and i didn't know i could use my duff(left over vape) i've been saving all of it in a jar... glad i did!

Very well put homer. The last cupl hrs i add very lil bit of water to keep from burning.that& stir it!
I'll have to watch it closely because i have a gas stove and low heat isn't it's favorite setting... i'll get it dialed in though. Thanks for the tip.

Pretty simple. They say you should use 1/4oz of bud or 1oz of trim per pound of butter, but I usually use as much as I can get my hands on in the smallest concentration (I used about 2oz of trim and popcorn buds for one quarter pound stick of butter last time). One pound of butter can make a lot of treats.

First chop the bud/trim in a coffee grinder or food processor. Just one or two pulses is perfect, you need it to be broken up but not into a fine powder or anything. If you have an herb grinder I would suggest that instead. Then melt the butter down in a pot full of water. Once it's all melted and bubbly but not brown I add in all my herbs. Simmer the herbs in the butter on a low heat for as long as you can stand it. At least 4 hours is my minimum, but the longer you cook it, the more THC gets in. 24 hours will get you some really good stuff

The water will evaporate as the butter simmers, so be sure to keep adding water as the level drops or you risk burning your butter and possibly vaporizing the THC. Once you can't take it anymore, take the pot off the heat. Get a tupperware container or something similar and pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer (I use a metal tea strainer) into the container. I smash the bud mixture with a spoon to make sure ALL of the butter gets into the container. Every drop counts.

Once you've strained all the bud out you can throw the plant matter away. Take the container with your melted butter and put it in the fridge. After a few hours the butter will have turned back into its original solid form with one key difference: it's way better now. Once the butter is solid you can use a spatula or something similar to scoop the butter out of the container. Oil and water have a different viscosity, so the butter will probably just be floating on top of the water. Just scoop it out and pour the water down the drain. Or your neighbor's lawn if he's a dick.

Presto! You have a powerful THC delivery agent that appears to be rotten food. Use it as you would butter in any other recipe. I recently used my mom's recipe for chocolate chip zucchini muffins with no small amount of success. Remember, one stick of butter (8 tablespoons) is 1/4 of a pound. I use it in everything. I made brownies, cookies, toast. I even mixed it in with a bowl of macaroni & cheese (or as the canucks call it, Kraft Dinner) one time. The taste wasn't all that great, but about an hour later I could barely remember how old I was, let alone what I ate that day.

It's really that simple. When you do eat it, give the ingredients between 30 and 90 minutes depending on your metabolism. The first mistake people (read: me) make when trying their edibles out is thinking they fucked up the recipe and eating more.
Thanks so much for all those great tips!!! it sounds easy, i will definitely be trying this soon. I don't really use butter much so i think i will make it very potent so i don't have to use as much.... i loved the comment about not remembering how old you were!!!!!

I like the rolling pin idea... one time i made a DIY bubble bag and i just left the wet hash on a paper plate to dry and i didn't like the way some of it never came off the plate.... i will try the cloth and rolling pin when i get the bags.

awesome looking buds. im getting excited looking at your ladies
Thanks man!! I'm really happy with the outcome of this one. i have 3 more just like her for the next 3-4 weeks! except they don't have any nute burn!

just popped in to say if you know a little organic chemistry there are many thc polar solvents or chemicals that grab onto thc like a magnet that can after the two have been drained from the mass such as leaf or what not be evaporated or otherwise removed therefore leaving behind pure thc or a thc tincture or can be used to thcify other things (it is a serious waste unless you have a crapload of something you won;t use otherwise such as fan leaf) one of my favorites is the THCigarette using vacuum distilled ethanol although moonshine would do the trick one would suppose it would just leave behind more impurity's such as starchs and what not. But basically the ethanol grabs on the thc then is drained away and left in a food grade bucket with a mass of pipe tobacco (pipe seems to burn better after the process than cigarette cut toibacco) the combination is left in a dark place in open air until the ethanol has evaporated THOROUGHLY and then the mass can be smoked in a cigar paper (finally reason to roll tobacco in a blunt wrap) or in a tobacco pipe and the reefer smell won't be there although I warn you know it will smell funny not quite like a normal tobacco so if you work with law enforcement don't try this trick as it does NOT pass a chemical test, yes the tobacco will turn a police test kit blue so don't over do trying to be stealthy sometimes it is better to err on the side of not smoking rather than being stealthy.

P.S. The potency of the refined tobacco mass will depend on the potency of the ethanol extract and don't add more than 50% ethanol tincture to mass of tobacco as it can turn the toibacco into an unsmokeable slurry if left too long to evaporate or if too large of a batch was made. Anyone else who has formal training in the field of organic chemistry or anyone else like me who is self taught has anyone to say or add please feel free.

Oh and these are basic thoughts that come time mind not a step by step so much.

Could always use a crok-pot.
I have read about this in other threads... i read that you put in on high for one hour then low for an hour, then back on high and then back to low again. have you heard of this before?

i use a crockpot just buy a small cheap one u can also use it for alcohol extraction for oil as well
oooohhh now your on to something... i didn't know you could use a crockpot for that. makes perfect sense and probably the safest way to make it. how do you do the IPA extraction? what persentage IPA do you use? is 97% okay or do i need the 99% stuff with very little water?

Alcohol extraction?for oil? U mean like honey oil? I have so much trim, would love to find somethin else than butter,kief/hash. Oil would be rad.
I made ISO honey oil a few times $7. DIY extractor.... I don't like the butane deal though!

with the price of gas, maybe we could make something like E85 and call it M85, LoL.
Good stuff dude!! at that price i will smoke it and pretend i went driving!

that sounds interesting, personally i would never be able to handle the taste of the tobacco. It's been many many years since i had a cig.

Stoney, you can use tupperware for the donkey dicks that dont fit into jars, like a casserole dish with a lid!
Perfect! ya know man, i don't care what they say about ya on RIU, Your alright in my book! hehehe seriously, thanks for the tip... much better than the idea i had about cutting a plastic bottle open and trying to tape/glue it back together... Tupperware it is!!!

Honey oil from butane is an option, but I don't like the idea of working with such a flammable chemical. I'd rather use ISO and let it evaporate the old-fashioned way. It seems like you might save a bit of time by heating the alcohol, but since alcohol evaporates naturally (and pretty quickly at room temperature) I don't see any sense in adding the risk of being completely on fire.

When my current grow is done I'm gonna try making a tincture (aka Green Dragon). I tried it once when I was visiting the Antelope Valley and just a few drops under the tongue is like smoking a joint. Added bonus: I am in no danger of exploding when I make it.

Some treats are just more potent than others. It all depends on how much you use, how strong the plant was, how long you let the butter leech, and your own metabolism/tolerance.

hey DK, What is a tincture?

Thanks for dropping by Doc! that plant is a Lemon lime that I harvested about two weeks ago. I gave it to a freind tonight. we smoked a bunch of it from his perkulator bong. the high was much stronger this time compaired to the sample i smoked last week. the taste and smell is very lemon like.

Those LEDs are so fucking cool haha. I just wish the bud would still look like that when you took it out from under the light. Diggin it man
That would be sweet if they could stay that purple!

I don't bake much at all.... I like cookies and brownies... which one uses more butter to make? i want to get the most bang for my buds!

From google:

Tincture: An alcohol solution of a nonvolatile medicine

In this case it's THC in an alcohol solution. It's pretty easy to make. Basically just put your ground bud/trim in a jar with alcohol. Everclear works best, but you can use any alcohol you like. Make sure it's at least 100 proof, though. Use a ratio of 1oz dried bud to one pint of alcohol. Then just shake the jar up and put it in a warm, dark place. Shake the jar once per day and keep it in the dark, warm spot for 30-60 days. Then just strain out the plant matter and presto! You've got a cannabis tincture. One eyedropper under the tongue will get you where you need to go. Make sure it's under your tongue so it gets directly into your blood vessels. If you swallow it you'll have to wait forever for it to digest.

The cool part about tincture is you can use it anywhere and nobody's the wiser. As far as they're concerned you're taking vitamin drops.

As for your question on which needs more butter, the answer is really specific to the recipe. If you want to add more butter to a recipe you can always do that, but your baked goods might not be as soft. I just buy pre-mixed brownies when I'm feeling lazy. They don't even call for butter, but I add a quarter pound anyway, since their ingredients don't include the one I really want to get in there.

If you need recipes, check http://www.allrecipes.com They've got pretty much everything in there.
