I Live in Ontario close to Hamilton. Ive grown DR Greenthumb genetics for a few years outside now with mind numbing results..I loose 50% to 60% of my crop to rippers, leo and animals. I cant afford to buy seeds that might work out so i spend money on seeds i know will work !!
Tree's Tree's Tree's....they haunt me..blocking off my precious sun. Finally i came to my senses and bought a good swede saw...Can you say TIMBERR !

Peace LM

Does anyone have any tips for growing outdoor (forest). My backyard is forest and goes for acres. What do I have to look for when taking care of my plants in spring. I am located in the most southern city in canada. And am planning on getting some clones. What is the best way for me to go about this journey. And if I plant in late april when will it start to flower. I know more light the better but is it still possible to have plants growing inside the dense forest for more protection from people?

First you sacrifice a chicken and a goat to the pot gods, then use google or the search bar for details.........

Entertaining..LM

Bucket, april may be a bit to early, im in central ontario and i plant may long weekend. I wouldnt plant before may if i were you just incase theres a super strong thunda storm or something maybe even frost. look for openings in the forest canopy that are significant enough to let plenty of undergrowth grow, (grass and shrubs). you want the plants to get as much sunlight as possible, they can survive with very little direct sunlight but the more the better. and be careful that the spot is stealthy enough and that NOBODY will stumble upon it, and dont leave any trails leading straight back to your house. if your gonna plant in a thick forest look for undergrowth because thats where the suns coming through, or even plant on the side of the forest if its not too heat, plant them in the ground of in pales or buckets no smaller than 3 gallons, then dig holes and but your bucket in the ground, this will lower the plant and make it less obvious. depending on many variables your plant could be done early september to late october. try not to stress the plants by over or underwatering because that may delay budding if you do it right before

ditto. i live in southern bc and we don't plant before may long weekend here too. if you can get them in april and grow them up a bit in pots before you plant them outside you'll be less bothered by things like slugs (or they'll be less likely to kill small plants than wee babies).
another thing i would add is to avoid big patches of fireweed as much as you can. nothing like picking that fluff off before you trim. ;)
